Like the Century Club I am sure that anyone with an insight into or need to know about how the Atkins WOE affects the 50+ amongst us will be welcome here.
After all we will all (hopefully) get to a ripe old age and perhaps even need a 100+ forum in the fullness of time :yikes now we are taking the steps to become our healthy and slimmer selves.

I like this forum because it gives me insight on what is coming up. I am experiencing a lot of "fun stuff" that happens in your 50s. I am menopausal and on Premarin. I tried to stop taking it for awhile but I was so miserable I had to start again.
If anyone is controlling their menopausal symptoms with other things besides hormones, I would definitely be interested in knowing what works for you. I don't know if Premarin is halting my weight loss, but I sure feel better when I take it.
I'm 55 now and was on Premarin for about 10 years and stopped last March, at my doctor's suggestion. When I started experiencing some mild hot flashes and night sweats, I started on Estroven and within a week they stopped. So that's what I take now.
I truly believe the Premarin was at least partially responsible for all the weight I had gained in my abdomen. I had never packed fat there before. When I gained, it was always spread evenly over my whole body so most people didn't even notice. Now, I'm having a hard time getting rid of it. My inches are shrinking in my waist but I'm still not happy with the flab.

That makes sense. I used to never carry weight in my tummy area and now I do. I didn't associate it with the Premarin but that does make sense.
Does anyone know if the over-the-counter menopause stuff works? The only thing that bothers me are the night sweats. Daytime stuff I'm too busy to notice.
:help :help :help I've thought about buying some but don't want to spend a lot of $$$ if it doesn't work.
I believe you can get the Estroven for about $8 or $9 for a months supply at Target or Walmart. I buy it in two month packages at Costco for around $14 if I remember right (there go those lost brain cells again).
But, you should notice the effect on night sweats within a week, so buying one box would definitely be worth it.
Also, I noticed absolutely no withdrawal effects from stopping the Premarin cold turkey after taking it for 10 years.
