You'all know I am 6 months from retirement and I am so excited, I can hardly stand it. I want to travel, I want to garden, I want to read every book in the library. I want to volunteer for Habitat, (I can't drive a nail so maybe they need someone to sweep or something.
Are you ready to retire? Thinking about it?

    thinking about it
DOn't worry Mrs Carter wrote in her book about not being able to hammer and they stuck her laying plywood subfloors her first day. You will learn and they will teach you.

I'm no where near retirement, but if I were, I would love to travel! I also want to explore my hobbies since time keeps holding me back. I want to do it all! It was hard to pick just one :guns

Well you could say that I'm retired. Hubby retired and as I had to leave the workforce due to my health you might say that I'm retired. I help my husband with our home based business. When he no longer runs the business I would like to win the lottery so we could go south for the winter.

RETIRE? Based on the way I love to spend money ... it won't be an option for me. I'll work until I die.

Re: When you retire, What are you most looking forward to?

IN THIRTY YEARS.. when I am able to retire. argh... I want to open and run a quilt/fabric/homeschool store where I can go hang out and play and call it my job. I want to travel, just a little, watch my grandbabies (assuming), plant and maintain beautiful gardens and fruit trees. I want to design and build, from the ground up, my house, with my own hands, regardless of how long it takes. Except the electric. Wont even think of messing wtih that. I want to play bingo and clean out the library, and show my quilts and whatever else I am doing at the time.

That all sounds great. I have always dreamed of opening a used book store with comfey chairs to curl up in and a coffee pot thats always plugged in

If I *could* retire, I don't think I would .. I would miss the interaction with co-workers .. the feeling of being useful and contributing to the success of a company.

I dunno, I guess I'm weird!! But having nobody really depending on me would make me feel rather useless after awhile.

Womanpraised, "Freedom 95" plan is a take off (scarcastic joke), on a commercial in Canada, for a national insurance company, that talks about "Freedom 55". As in planning for age 55 to retire! It is always plastered over the t.v., in a commercial form. Forgot we're not all Canadians here!!!
