:wave This room is called 50+ for a reason. We're no longer 20 years old and can drop 10 to 15 pounds in a weekend!
In April, I had my annual checkup and my doctor order several test to make sure I'm still alive. She order thyroid, diabetes, cholestrol and kidney. I think I donated enough blood for a blood transfusion. Anyway, I went back the 19 of May to get my results and saw my regular doctor.
He was very happy with my colestrol, uphappy with my blood pressure, and said everything else was just fine. My HRT was way out of wack, and the meds were changed last month. Needless after being on the same HRT for 20 years a change was way over due. Now I'm feeling better, and almost back to my old self.
We talked about my weight coming off very slowly. He told me, I'm no long 20 (good point LOL), get a grip because the weight won't come off fast. I don't have that much weight to lose (about 35 pounds) and the less you need to lose the slower it is to take off. He also said if I lose the weight slowly, my eating habits will be more effective and the weight should stay off. I work out in a gym at least 3 days a week and try to get in 5 days a week. My doctor stressed to forget about the scale (they lie anyway) and use a messureing tape and have a FAT test done about every 2 months.
He told me I would notice a big change in the way my cloths fit and that means I'm getting healthier and the fat is going away. I told him, I am noticeing a big change in the way my clothes fit, and putting on my "smaller" jeans is no longer an "Olympic Event".
He did give me a very good point to think about. Being older, the weight doesn't come off as fast, and we need to think in LONG term. If you only lose 1 pound a week for 52 weeks, that's 52 pounds a year! We sure didn't put this weight on overnight and we sure aren't going to take it off overnight.
So do what I'm doing. Hang in there, stay on the Atkins plan, and give each other support because we CAN DO IT!!!!!!!
