Alright, so it's been a while since I've posted, reason being; I haven't been sticking to my diet or excersise plan. Actually I don't remember the last time I managed to stick to diet and exercise for more than two weeks. It's sad I know. So I'm sitting here, realizing, that well tomorrow the 6th is exactly 7 weeks until school starts. I need to get myself in gear, I wanted to lose a good amount of weight this summer since I'm hitting senior year in August. Now I don't expect a miracle and I know what my body can and can't do. I believe I can pull off 35 pounds by August 24th, and if not well at least I know I gave it my all. Tomorrow I go onto a strict induction. That's it. It must be done, and I plan on keeping a journal too. This thread really had no point, I guess, just making my plan public, therefore giving me more reason to stick to my diet. Anyone else want to join? We could have a sort of get in shape before school starts club or whateva. Just pm me or post a reply. Wish me luck, I'll be checking in!

Re: School is starting in what seems like no time.
Yay! Glad to see someone replied and is looking to join. I've done this before, last summer I went hardcore and managed to get down to a decent size but I didn't appreciate it as I realize now I should have. I ended up going on a trip and completely going off the plan, and school started and blah just a bunch of nothing happpend. Anyways I'm looking to do this for the long haul this time! Good luck with your first day!

Re: School is starting in what seems like no time.
hey guys
I'd like to join your little support group too. I need to lose about 20 pounds possibly more. I just finished my freshman year of college and found myself weighing a lot more. It really sucks. I guess what they say about the freshman 20 is true. Its just really hard to eat healthy because I live on campus and have a meal plan. I mean I guess its not that hard because they do offer salads but most of their choices are like pizza and hamburgers...and the salads just werent that appetizing
on top of that, im so short im barely 5'3 that whenever i gain a pound you can SEE it. well anyways, i'd love to be in touch. talk to u later.

Yay! We've got three of us so far! Alright so how about we give our starting stats, and weigh in each week? How does that sound? I find the more organized and more I keep track of these things, the more inspired I get. Let me know if that sounds good to you both.

Re: School is starting in what seems like no time.
Ladies, congrats on being determined!
Let me suggest one thing though - believe me I know how rewarding it can be for the scale to move, but take your measurements now and measure as you go along. The scale is just a number, but your measurements don't lie.
I know at your age it's hard to commit to exercising, but it will make a difference - a BIG difference in your body. I currently weigh 198 lbs, but I look like I weigh in the 150s. I am wearing sizes I used to wear years ago, when I weighed 30 lbs less than I do now. That's what exercising does for your body. I was a confirmed couch potato and knew when I started Atkins that I wanted to do it all right, so I started moving and haven't stopped since. I feel better now than I can ever remember feeling as an adult.
It will also give you a mental lift, especially when you're feeling down.
Plan ahead and make sure you have legal foods on hand at all times. If you are going to a party or some place where there will be all sorts of tempting stuff, eat before you go. And don't let others influence you to make poor choices. That can only happen if you let it.
And most of all, have fun and remember that the choices you are making now can have a profound affect on your future. Believe me when I tell you that the years go by quickly and if you don't take care of your body, it will start to show it, and you'll start to feel it.
Good luck!

Re: School is starting in what seems like no time.
Thanks for the great advice. When I said measurements I did indeed mean inches in addition to weight. Also I'm well aware of the wonderful benefits of exercising as I love to swim (I work at a pool), and I love to bike! I'm in the process of looking into a gym membership so I can start lifting. Thanks again for the advice!

Re: School is starting in what seems like no time.
Oh my goodness I totally agree on the easier to do in summer thing! It's so easy to get caught up in school and activities that happen during school to make you lose track. I think the trick is trying to find a routine, I have yet to fine mine but I think thats the trick.

Re: School is starting in what seems like no time.
Welcome aboard! Good to see people wanting to join, but I'm not hearing many updates from people. Where are you all? Lets try and check in every so often and let everyone know whats up! I'll be first to start; so last week didn't do so great, but I came back full on today! I biked 5 miles and swam 2,000 yards, I stuck to my diet and didn't touch caffeine which has led to this awful headache, don't you just love withdrawls? Anywho, theres my update hope to hear from more of you soon! Keep up the good work!
