  • Trying to get back on

Hey everyone... the name is Jenn (obviously!). I was on the diet over a year ago and did really well getting down to the weight I wanted. However, after living with my (now ex) boyfriend I managed to gain all my weight back which is totaled at 70 pounds I am very unhappy with myself, but I am ready to get back into the Atkins mode and start losing weight again So, HELLO ALL! And I wish you all great luck.

Welcome back to the board! I know exactly what situation you are in because the same thing happened to me, minus the living with the boyfriend part and stuff, but I did put on a lot of weight. Good luck with everything, I know you can do it! -hug-

Hey! No one is perfect, some have slip ups, which I admit freely, I am one of those non-perfect peoples. Anyway, congratulations on your first day!

Okay, so its almost the end of day 2 and i'm starving... haha.. i don't have a job right now because I just moved back in with my parents..and 650 miles away from where i used to live..so i can't buy food..and there is really nothing in my parents house for me to eat... ahhh i'm going insane But I will not give up because someone very wise (and from this board!) once said that its not worth putting the bad food with the evil carbs in your mouth because you wont remember what it tastes like in two days and it won't be worth it when you're getting fat again :/ so yay!!!! lol but im still hungry

It's really hard when you have temptation around, and I totally sympathize. Be creative with what's on hand for now, and ask your parents to consider your diet when shopping, if they can.

Have eggs? You can make them up lots of different ways - fried, poached, boiled, deviled, in a salad, omlette, scrambled, quiche. Tuna is quick and easy - add mayo, mustard, salt, pepper, and a little splenda, then eat with celery sticks. Chicken - there's like no end to what you can do with that.

If your parents are serving meals, try to pick out what you can eat. Veggies, meat, seafood... just remove what you can't eat.

In the end, it's best to do it right, better to do close, and not good to give up completely. So, if you have something that isn't strictly Induction-legal because that's all that's there, it's better than blowing the whole thing. Do your best and you'll learn tricks as you go. (Took me awhile to realize I could order something and then just not eat parts, like fajitas...)

Try to find something high fat. That will help with making you feel full, even if you're not eating a large volume of food. Add butter, mayo, sour cream, cheese, olive oil, etc to your food, for the quickest boost.

You can do it, just hang in there.

Wow, thank you for that. It was just what I was looking for. It's the end of day 3 and I'm feeling alright. The hunger has subsided It's funn you posted about "picking out what you can eat" ... when mom made supper tonight it was my FAVE mashed potatoes with a meat type gravy. I just ate the meat out of the gravy and the green beans I just made my dad eat a little extra potatoes for me Eggs are so blah to me... it almost makes me sick to eat them - so I can't do too much of those. I do love salad, however I hate most dressings except french and I hate to buy the low carb french because its bad on induction. So blah huh? I guess I just have to suck it up and eat the ranch. Anyway, again, thanks!!

Re: Trying to get back on

oh, I *love* mashed potatoes... you're stronger than me if you actually ate the gravy and left the potatoes.. lol

When I can't stand eggs anymore, I make deviled eggs. They don't even taste like eggs to me, and they're high fat, so they fill me up. You can also make an omelette with chirozo (spicy sausage), cheese, and salsa. Or egg drop soup. Tons of things you can do besides the plain boring ways, because I totally understand getting tired of them.

I like ceasar dressing, so that's what I usually get. It's generally safe, but almost all of them can have added sugar. Bleu cheese is ok, if you like it. Oil and vinegar (as long as it's not balsamic vinegar). Salsa (but count your veggies, since it's mostly tomato).

One last thing - You've made it three days! That's terrific, especially given your challenges. You're doing great and should be hella proud of yourself.

My mom and I had a garage sale today. She made tea with Splenda for me, went to Subway for lunch, was doing great, and then my brother brought Dairy Queen home =\ "Oh, you don't want it?"

Yes, I *want* it and if you don't take it away from me, I might have to kill you and bury the body in the back yard... lol

You've got 4 days under your belt. That's over half a week. You didn't mention if you were weighing or waiting until the 2 week mark, but you may notice your clothes are already loser. If not, should be soon, because you're doing great.

congrats on your 12 pounds gone. WOO HOO!!!!

                          Good going Biker.

As you saw from Biker's post when Dr Atkins tells us to recruit our friends family and cowarkers a s a part of our support network there is an important reason. Bikers mom was a great support person making Splenda tea for her. Nobody in your support network would temp you with DQ like that.

12lbs is fantastic! We all have roadbumps - the difference with those who reach goal is that they get back on track as soon as possible.

Cheating also gives you a chance to reflect on your reasons and change things so that you don't do it again. Take a look at what lead up to your cheating, and see what you could do differently next time. There are lots of ideas floating around here for just about anything you could come up with.

2big - he's 17 and thinks everyone can eat like he does. Plus, I've never really talked to him about it. I see him once every two months or so.

I know exactly the reason I cheated...and it's a bad one!! My good good (ok, my ex who I dated and lived with for 2 yrs) friend came from IA to visit me and wanted to take me out. I thought, okay, he drove 650 miles to see me and wants to take me out - I'll take the weekend off. Which is what I did and i'm starting again today and it's not a problem. I did this diet 2 years ago and succeeded with 30 pounds down. I know how to work it lol... I'm not going to be frustrated when it takes me 2 months to lose 20 pounds instead of 1 month like before because I know it'll come off..and I just want it to before my weight becomes a problem.
