    Re: Hey everyone

    hi Matt
    Welcome to our ADBB family

Congratulations on making the decision to eat healthily at your age Many of us wish we had had the good sense to tackle our weight problems earlier in our lives like you are doing.

I am not familiar with the school system in USA enough to know how long you have till you reach your senior year but I know that if you keep up the good work you have started on by eating according to Atkins and exercising that you will be a much fitter, healthier and slimmer young man by the time you get there
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Hey Matt! I'm glad you found the teen forum! People around here have been trying to get it going, so I hope they will chime in to welcome you!

Wonderful decision to come to the board, and to eat Atkins style! You should try to find your book, it's so informative! In the meantime you can look around the board, in the induction forum etc, and ask any questions you want. People are always so helpful around here.

          Heya, Matt. =)

I would have replied sooner but I've been away from the forum for almost 2 months.

I'm a Junior in highschool, too! How fun! Senior year, I know, seems pretty far away.
I'm gonna be really honest, though. Losing 120 by the start of next term is pretty unlikely. Not impossible! No, it's possible! You should see some of the amazing stories that are floating around here. O_O It's just... astounding how quickly some people drop weight.

I'm just going to say now: Atkins is an amazing way of eating. It's really effective. I promise that you'll lose a significant amount by the time August rolls around. Whether you've reached your goal or not by that time, it's impossible to say. I wish you the best of luck, though!

Please, visit often. There aren't nearly enough of us teens around.

Oh! And drink water every day. A lot of water. Trust me, it helps!

          See you around!

            Re: Hey everyone

Really, I have the same goal as you, except going from 7th grade into 8th. The best thing in the world for me would be to come back in august (IN here too) and have none of my friends recognize me. Even if they do (and they might or might not, probably 50-50 chance depending on how i lose weight) this diet is definitely helping me take charge of my health.

            Good luck!!!

            Current weight: 226
            Mini-goal: 215
Diet goal: get through the 14-day induction

            Mini goal 1: 260

                  Re: Hey everyone

I know it is hard to start but once you get started, your hunger will decrease a lot. You can do this, but if you want to reach your goal by the time you graduate, it is good that you start now. We will be here to help you, just post often!

                      Re: Hey everyone

Hi and welcome! I'm 25 but I really wish Atkins had been around (well, and common knowledge, since it WAS around) when I was in highschool.

If your main goal is to drop 120 lbs by let's say the start of September.. that is roughly 15 lbs a month starting right now (mid Feb).

I'm not going to say its impossible because a LOT depends on how your body reacts with Atkins and how well you stick to the diet. I would say be sure to read the ingredient label on everything and for good measure, stay away from aspartame. It can cause the same reaction in your body as REAL sugar and curb your hard-earned results.

Heavier bodies tend to melt away the pounds easier and you might find you lose a good amount in the beginning. You may even decide to extend Induction a bit longer than the first 2 weeks to really jumpstart your body into weightloss mode - but do what feels good for you.

Even if you averaged a VERY possible 10 lbs a month - you could go from 300 to 220 by the start of school and that would be GREAT! Stay positive, read the success stories and check out the before/after picture section - its DEFINATELY possible!
