  • Teens Forum ROLL CALL!!!

    I know there are some of you on the board, so stop hiding.

    How are doing? Do your parents support this WoE? How do you deal with temptation when your friends are eating popcorn, pizza and ice cream? What motivates you to lose weight -- prom, girlfriend/boyfriend, health, something else? What is your favorite exercise -- do you like going to the gym, do you prefer playing sports?

    Let's make this forum as cool as it's supposed to be!

    I'm 21 so not really a teen... but I'll start.

    I'm on OWL Rung 4 and I can't wait for the summer to come to get some fresh berries.

    My parents... umm... yeah, they don't really care about Atkins, but when I go home mom cooks whatever I want just 'cuz she me. :P
    My brother thinks this diet is the coolest way of eating. He's a basketball player and a kinetotherapy college freshman.

    Favorite exercise... Tennis, by far! Hiking comes next. And then badminton and basketball.

            yes im on iduction. ive been on an off for the past 6th months lol. but i promised my self no cheating on teusday, ive kept that promise so far.

              Ugh, sorry to hear you've been struggling with this. Going on and off Induction for six months is probably not very healthy since your body is still developing and needs more nutrients and calories than what you can get during Induction. Is your doctor monitoring your progress? From a health point of view, I believe it would be better if you started directly in OWL... maybe OWL Rung 3 or so. The extra diary will give you more calcium for proper bone growth, while the extra veggies and nuts will give you more vitamins, minerals and fiber. And don't worry that this will not allow you to lose weight, because at your age you should be able to eat quite a lot of net carbohydrates (= total carbohydrates minus dietary fiber). I suppose you are also exercising, which helps a lot. Dr. Atkins wrote that those adults who are exercising regularly can eat up to 60-90 g of net carbohydrates and still lose weight. Since you are in your teens, you can probably eat even more than this.

                i'm 21 aswell, but i'm at uni so i still feel like a teen. I can't remember how I found out about Atkin's but when I read the book I was WOW this makes perfecg sense! My mum didn't take me seriously and thought it was just another one of my silly attempts to loose weight (which isn't entirely untrue) but uni life has taken it's toll on my body and i'm a heffer now! I joined the rugby team for exersise and for the social life and that means i train, play and go to strength and conditionng every week, which hasn't heped my weight at all.

                I actually succeeded on the atkins last year for around a month and lost half a stone ish. but then came back to uni and got straight back on the carbs. My housemate is a sports science student and doesn't agree with the atkins diet, so i just start again to shut her up...but now she is always at her girlfriends house she doesn't bother me anymore.

                My plan is stick to the atkins diet (obv) and because it's the hols and uni rugby isn't on i'm going to a local rugby teams fitness sessions and another 2 gym sessions on top of that. I don't have a target weight coz i don't know what's healthy for my height, so as much as possible is the goal atm...

                  I think its pretty hard actually.. Starting so young. Cause so many people I know are just eating and eating, everything I would love too, but I can't and I won't.
                  There's not alot to keep me going, my Dad used to do it, but he stopped, gained it back and eats like a pig now, buys everything junky and stores it within reach. Sometimes I really doubt he cares.. I guess we never got along well.
                  I suppose my Mum helps abit cause she does it with me, shes tempted sometimes and gives in though, but shes come along way, lost alot of weight and when shes bad she'll be really good straight after.
                  I'd kill to be an actress, weight is so strict with them that its alot of pressure I guess, and unneeded stress.. But i'll get there one day.. If I'm strong enough.

                  I hate sports =P but my favorite exercise is my faithful treadmill =] Its a great way to lose calories and not really notice your working out.

                    I AM 13!!!!! WHOOO!
                    My goal is to be in a bikini along side of a pool with my skinny (very blonde <3) friends. I am 45 lbs. overweight. But I will lose it- and keep it off!!!!!! I like going to the gym w/ my iPod or a good book. My mom got us(my bro. who is also very overweight) a treadmill, and a bike. Very helpfull. Thnx for starting this up!

                      Im 16 and 12 days into induction and feeling good!
                      My mom is fine with this Woe and she supports me 100%
                      To keep active i play sport like rugby,football and basketball
                      And if i have any spare time i will go running.
                      Ive just got a new dog, Witch is more exercise to walk it

                      And thats about it.

                          I'm 15. I have been doing this WOL since April. I have had my on and off times, though. My family is not the most supportive. My mom KIND OF is, because she is also doing Atkins and she buys food that I can eat.
                          For exercise, I walk to school, walk my dog, swim, do a lot of yard work, and in August, I will be riding my bike to work.
                          I began Atkins because I was tired of getting too big for my clothes and having to buy new clothes in bigger sizes and I was tired of being embarrased in a bathing suit and I was tired of kids at school being immature and making fun of me for being over weight. I also wanted to start looking more pretty and girl like and I wanted to have more energy and to not be prone to health problems as I got older.

                            I'm 17, so although I don't feel like a teen anymore, guess I still am!
                            This is my 13th day, cheat-free and all is going well
                            Exercise-wise, I'm starting a running program, plus strength training with squats, push-ups and situps.
                            I'm doing this partly because I want to look the way I feel I should, slender and toned, not flabby and spilling out of XL clothes on a good day. I was bullied for a looong time about my weight, and it's time to get it sorted! Plus, the biggest reason is that I need a normal BMI to join the Royal Navy, so I need to get fit and get the weight off.
                            My parents are pretty supportive - unfortunately my mother is an idiot half the time, and seems unable to understand what I can and cannot eat. but I often cook for myself anyway. My Dad is great, he did Atkins a few years ago.

                              Hi im Francine Juliet! Im 17! Im in the first stage this si my first official day! (YAY ME!!!)
                              Im currently at 206 pounds. Im trying to lose 100 possibly by my senior prom. and keep it off. Im barely 5'0 (probably like 4'11 and 3/4) LOL

                              Anyways. Hi to all!!! I see this group is a bit inactive lets change that!!
