    Hey Guys!

I am new here. And I am starting this diet today. Thing is that I want to loose 25 pounds before school starts, Jan 4. And I have 2 weeks to do so.
I am 14 years old, weigh 145 lbs and am 5'3 tall . And I want to become 120 lbs.
But, the problem is that i don't know what to eat. I have read everything but i am still confused. Can you guys help me come up with a plan please?

    Thank You!

    P.S. I can't eat pork, gelatin , cheddar cheese.
    Thanks again!

    Re: New Here

    Hey there!

I was wondering if 14.2010 is your spy name, but now I figured out where it comes from.

First of all, Atkins is not a quick fix. It is not a diet you follow for 2 weeks, but a way one eats for life.

Second, there is no healthy way in which you can lose 25 lbs in 2 weeks. You need to be realistic. It just ain't gonna happen.

Third, you are 14. You are probably still growing and your body is not yet fully developed. From a health standpoint, it is a bad idea to start Atkins or any other diet out there unless you are doing it under the supervision of your pediatrician. If you are concerned about your weight, first talk to your parents about it and then, together with them, you can address the issue with your doctor.

Please do not attempt to do Atkins on your own, based on whatever information you find online. It is your long term health at stake. First, because the information you find might not be accurate. Second, because Atkins was designed for adults, not for teens. Teens have different nutritional needs compared to adults, which is why they need to work closely with their pediatrician.

Below is an except from Dr. Fred Pescatore's book, Feed Your Kids Well. Dr. Pescatore worked with Dr. Atkins at the Atkins Center for Complementary Medicine.
Be forewarned: an adult dietary plan cannot be used for any of your children, overweight or not. Chances are that not only won't the adult diet work, but it could conceivably do damage to healthy growth patterns and the normal maturation of your child.

An adult diet is no more suitable for a child than is a television program or movie that has been designed specifically for mature audiences. Children require different nutritional balances at different stages of their lives. For this reason it is not practical or healthy to put your overweight child—or any child—on any of the numerous adult diets.

--- "Feed Your Kids Well", Fred Pescatore, M.D., John Wiley & Sons, Inc., 1998, Introduction by Fred Pescatore, M.D., p. 5
Having said that, avoiding junk/processed foods (sweet drinks, chips, fast food, candies, etc.), eating a variety of vegetables, choosing healthy sources of protein and fat (no trans fats... these are found in things like Cool Whip, fast food meals, margarine) and starting an exercise program (if you are not exercising already) are healthy changes I encourage you to make to your lifestyle.
