  • Today I started....

Morning y'all! I just started today and I couldn't find the darn book so I ordered it off Amazon.com . Just to clarify for veggies....I LOVE Avocado's, so if I make an awesome dip with 1 Avocado, few diced tomato, tad of cilantro, squeeze of lime, and a tad of pepper would that be added into my veggies? If it made 1/2 cup how would I calculate that into my day? BTW, it is great with pork rinds!

Also say I eat a salad for lunch and snack during the day on a cup of cukes and either have a salad with dinner (1 cup) or say a cup of sauteed mushrooms would that be my limit on veggies? I love veggies so I am hoping there are some "free" veggies out there lol.

Sorry to ask all of this, but my book hasn't arrived so I can't read about it. And yes, I am DRINKING water =).

Hi there. That avocado dip sounds great. There is a limit on veggies, 3 cups of the veggies listed under 'salad' veggies, or two cups of the salad veggies and one cup of the 'other' veggies. So, three cups total per day for induction. There are some special category foods. Half an avocado falls into that, along with olives.

Here is a link to the acceptable food list for induction.

Have you tried fitday.com yet? Its a great way to keep yourself within your protein 65%, carb5%, protein 30% range. It keeps you true to the diet. If we overdo it on veggies, it can slow your weightloss, or even keep you from getting into lypolisis.

O tried fitday.com last year and it always said I was over my carb limit when I knew I wasn't. I am still waiting on my book.

I have been on fitday.com for over 2 months now, and I have never been over my carb limit, infact I am usually between 14-17 carbs/day. Maybe you did eat more Carbs than you realize!!! I find recording on a daily basis, keeps me in control of what I am putting into my mouth. Try it again, maybe you'll find it a bit easier now. Good luck, and take things one day at a time!! :yes

Did you remember to subtract your fiber? Fitday doesn't do that for you. Just a thought....

When you set your goals in fitday, create a goal for daily fiber intake.

Then when you see your carbs per day in your "Am I meeting my custom nutrition goals?" report, you can subtract the fiber number and see if you're still good with your total carbs for the day.

                  I hope that makes sense??

Yes I am starting to understand lol, but it says my fat is 70% and protein is 25%...will the protein go up and fat go down?

You may find having a little less fat - like 1 Tablespoon less of mayo for instance - would drop the fat and up the protein enough.
Try altering one high-fat item down to see what the result would have been - you can always alter it back after you know what would have happened.
I spent many minutes playing with menus on a 'what if' scenario whan I first started using fitday, and now have a good idea on easy ways to 'tweak' my menus to get the ratios better.
I often do this when deciding what to cook for dinner and alter my menu accordingly.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
