  • Anyone not want to eat?

I often have the problem that while I may be hungry, what I have to eat doesn't sound good, so I tend not to eat. I know that's not necesarily a bad thing, but I also know I shouldn't go long periods without eating. This normally happens at work when I have premade food to get me through the night, and no other low carb options. If this is OK..then cool.. I won't think about it anymore..but it's a constant thing.. so I thought I would ask.

    Thanks!

Ally, don't really know the answer to the question. I think that as long as you don't go 6 hours without eating you might be ok. Do you have to make up the calorie amount with a later meal or an earlier one?? So you meet your minimun calories??

Honestly I don't even know what my minimum calories are. I figure I don't need to worry about that. I eat enough. I'm still fat right? ( I know if you don't eat your body goes into starvation mode I'm just being a brat)

To be honest…do I ever not want to eat? No. I always want to eat. Sometimes I don’t have the right foods with me and it is really a temptation to go get something out of the vending machine but then I wait. But I don’t not eat because I don’t want to eat..

OK OK .. I know. I just can't force myself to not eat if I don't want what I have. Any have suggestions? How do you mix up your food and not get bored?

I am a cretaure of habit so I can eat the same thing, 3 times a day for the next 6 months and I'll be happy about it.

                    Yes, I'm weird!

At any rate, definitely eat something every 6 hours.

If you don't, your blood sugar does all kinds of manky things.

As well, your body might just go into starvation mode and anything you eat could then cause you to gain weight due to a readjusted basal metabolism.

So, go for hard boiled eggs, some cheese, a small salad. Anything Atkins-friendly is better than nothing every 6 hours.

But as an aside, isn't it GREAT to not need to have to eat?!

                    WOOT! :joy

I have this problem too. I went through stages of skipping meals, but realized that I felt worse and stalled my weight loss when I did.

Since then, I aim on eating 3 meals a day, of whatever I can tolerate at that point, even it's the same thing every day.

Atkins has turned me into a picky eater and alot of foods now just make me nauseous if I try and eat them.

My other problem is that I don't like to nor have the energy to cook, so it's either quick meals or eating out.

I do recommend trying to keep "snack" foods around that you do like and will eat that are Atkins friendly. If anything, try and eat 5-6 smaller meals of good Atkins snacks (get those veggies!).

What helps me is if you keep in mind that it doens't have to be a big meal.. Sometimes if it has been 6 hours and I haven't eaten, I just snack on a piece of cheese, a slice of turkey, or some nuts.. nothing big, just a snack to keep my blood sugar up, and my metabolism going.

I have been guilty of this. I have tried to have more variety available. Instead of just packing a lunch and taking it to work every day, I have some other options available if I decide that's not what I want when lunch time comes around. Do you have a fridge at work? I always have a bag of lettuce, a bottle of dressing, cans of tuna, a jar of mayo, some sliced meat and cheese, and maybe some eggs (hard boiled, deviled, or egg salad). I find I am better prepared this way and I usually will find something in the fridge that is appealing to me, even if it is just a snack.

I'm like this too, which is probalby why I'm still hanging in the 190's. My trouble is I don' t like to eat alone urplequ:

Most days I don't even take a lunch house and eat only dinner. Too lazy to cook and sometimes I look at food and just don't know what I want.

I'm whining, I know, but I'm glad that EMTChick brought this up and that bizzlekitty has said the same thing.

To keep my blood sugar stable and to keep myself from cheating. I usually have a tiny bit of something around 9 am. Like a sliver of cheese just to “break” the fast (because I didn’t used to eat any breakfast, so I’m by eating a little, I may get to the point where I can eat a bigger one). Then I will have decaf coffee or tea around 9:30. Then I will eat a small protein snack at around 10 or 10:30, then I will have (usually a salad) for lunch around 12, then I will snack again at 3, then try try try to eat dinner before 6pm. So spreading it out over the day feels like I’m eating more (when really its just more often). And it keeps me from being sooo hungry that I’m going to cheat.

Small meals and “grazing” is my new approach and its really working.
