  • Biggest Fears (OT)

I am heading to the states in 19 days, man I can't believe its almost here. I am so excited to see my family and friends, meet Becky and JoAnne and shop at Walmart! Woo hoo. :joy
But I have some fears too and they are making me nervous. :yikes
The first is fitting in the seats on the plane and then in the rest rooms on board on an 18 hour flight! (who designs these tiny rooms!)
And this is going to sound silly, but I am afraid of breaking furniture. I have this fear that I will sit on my Moms new couch and (GFB) it will crack and crash under my weight.
Has anyone else had fears like this? ensive

Tamariah--yes on the airplane and no on the couch (I've never seen one that delicate that wouldn't hold me, but then, most folks I know have the really stuffed ones) breaking but more on sinking in there and not being able to get back out of the really fluffy ones.

I am excited for your trip. You are going to have such fun. Wish you were coming to the Boston area so I'd get to meet you too! Have a lovely time, take loads of photos so you can share with us.

There are many times I've been afraid to sit in chairs - lawn chairs mostly. The longest flight I've been on is 9 hours and it was uncomfortable but not totally miserable. Not enough to keep me home anyway! And couches.... I'm with Kathy - more afraid I can't get out of one than afraid it'll break. I avoid sinky couches as much as lawn chairs!

I know exactly how you feel, I have been known to stand at peoples houses rather than risk sitting in a chair that looks like it would snap into a thousand pieces under me (the ironic thing is that when I actually get to test the theory out, ie: no one is in the room, it doesnt!!)

The most awful thing that ever happened to me was when I was going on holiday and I had to catch one of those airplanes that still use propellors (this was around the greek islands) I was made to pay for an extra seat as they informed me no one would be able to fit in next to me!

I have a million fears related to my weight! Some are realistic, and some not so realistic, lol. But what can we but deal with them straight on!

Have a safe and pleasant trip!

Yep, I totally can relate. No matter how much weight I lose, I still have the same worries about breaking furniture and not being able to do certain things. Most of its in my head because I've spent years dealing with this sort of fear.
