  • Working Out

Hey everyone :icondance .. I was actually wondering well... I am going to be on induction for a LONG time, since day 1 of atkins I have been working out *i have a little bike thingy i ride* and I lift some weights. Well, I am over 300lbs. The sooner I get away from there the better, thats my first goal. ANYWAYS... will that help me if my skin were to get lose? I am 21 yrs old, so I am hoping were I am young that my skin will snap back with working out, it kinda worries me.. I mean I expect some sag, but I dont want a blanket of skin hanging on me, I guess noone does.. what do yall think

From what I've read on these boards, it seems to me that since you are young and exercising, sagging will be minimal. I think I read somewhere that having weight lifting in your exercise routine is a good thing to do for sagging. I'm sure other people know more about it then I do. It's something I'm kind of worried about too.

Exercise, drink lots of water, use mosturizer (a lot of people see a difference with Palmer's Coco Butter.

Being young is a huge advantage and will help reduce the possibilities for sagging skin.

I think - don't worry about it. You're young.. even though you may have caused some irreparable damage to your skin, I doubt it will be too bad. Over time your skin will definitely improve.. though you may never be as tight as someone who's never had the excess weight. At any rate, get in shape now and worry about skin later. good luck sister

Well I think the excess skin worryies are to much for us young folk.

Hi Chunky! I'm 30, and I do have loose skin, but that is because I'm a lazy slug when it comes to working out. I'm going to be picking up some exercise dvd's as soon as I get a little ahead budget wise, because I think the toning exercises are what's going to tighten things up. Not all of us are fortunate to have gyms nearby, so I think its stretch and more stretch with resistance bands for me. Also, they say lots of water....moisture increases skin elasticity.

Hey Chunky. You should look into skin brushing. You can buy a natural bristle skin brush at a health food store for about $10 bucks. I've been skin brushing for about a week, and my husband noticed that my skin looks better and he said it feels "sexy". It helps to move lymph, which removes toxins. It also removes dead skin on the surface making your young healthy skin shine through. A week ago my legs looked like alligator skin, now they are soft and smooth like a baby's bottom. Also, the skin around my hips and around my navel is firming up and looking less like jello. I skin brush twice a day, and shower afterward. In the morning, I brush my skin before my shower, wash my hair, shave, etc. In the evening, I brush again, and rinse off. I've also found that using oil on my skin seems to work better than lotions, creams, etc. I've been using extra virgin olive oil, and coconut oil. A little goes a long way. I really massage it into my "problem areas". Here is a web page that explains skin brushing in detail:

If you exercise, skin brush, and drink lots and lots of water, I think your skin is gonna look awsome when you're at your goal.

by the way...I know the instructions look complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, you can brush from head to toe in 2-3 minutes. I also noticed that since I started skin brushing, my legs, which have never in my life been tan, tanned nicely at the beach on Sunday.
