  • A Productive Sunday

I have to say that I really enjoy the higher level of energy I have on this WOL.

For me, Sundays used to mean a long sleep-in. Then I would enjoy a lazy breakfast, watch TV or videos, and maybe (maybe) clean. But recently, I just cannot keep still on my days off!

My job changed at the begining of April. So I went from having an irregular working schedule, to a really set one. before I'd wake up at a different time every day. And sometimes I'd have one early class and then nothing until the evening, so I'd come home and nap! But now that I teach at a Junior High School, I wake up at 6:30 everyday.

Well NOW, I just cannot seem to sleep in. My eyes FLY open at 6:30. Sometimes earlier. Sometimes I can MAKE myself stay in bed for a while longer. But usually I just NEED to get going.

Take today for example. I woke up at 5:45! But I convinced myself that this wa a ridiculous time to wake up on a day off and forced myself to stay in bed until 6:45. But then there was NO arguing with myself. I had to get up. So I set my pedometer, and did my walk.

Upon returning home, I showered and dressed, phoned my parents and had a nice chat with my mum (dad was out watching a football game at a friend's), washed the dishes and had breakfast. Then I worked on a craft project that a friend and I had started last night, but didn't have time to finish. Then I cleaned up all the art supplies, VACCUUMED, and did a load of laundry. I rodered some new clothes online, chatted with a friend online for a bit, then went shopping to get groceries for the next couple days. Now I've just made up a weeks worth of meetballs for my lunches this week, and have them cooking away in the crock pot.

So, my apartment is clean (well...clean for me), I've exercised, I'm ready for work tomorrow, the craft project is drying nicely in the May breezes, and some sweet new clothes are on their way. And it's still only 3:54 in the afternoon!

Someone sedate me please! I'm waaaaay to active!

Isn't the energy great! I get up early every day too, but I have a built in alarm clock, kids! LOL

I've always felt that if I slept in I was wasting the day.

But I'm a big fan of naps.

That is so cool! My energy level is up too. And I can get out of bed without as many aches and pains, which I swear come from flour based foods. I don't yawn my way through a day and the absence of hunger pangs (probably more mental than physical) is WONDERFUL!

          NO! NO! NO!

I know you posted the above quote in jest, Curveegirl. But, I’m going to use it to make a point.

Most of us who have lived an obese lifestyle have spent our existence being inactive. Once we begin a low-carb lifestyle, we feel this “rush of energy.” Count this "rush” as a blessing................nurture it........revel in it.................but, most importantly, don’t take it for granted.

Unless we use that new energy level to get our bodies moving, to get us used to an exercise routine, we will lose it. We gotta use it to keep it!

When we’re feeling that new energy level, it isn’t difficult to begin an exercise program. And, if we keep at it, it isn’t hard to continue that routine. But, if we turn our back on this blessing of extra energy, it will not take long before we’re back into our old “couch potato” routine. And, I’ve been told, it’s hard as **** to get it back once we’ve lost it.

papajack, I was DEFINATELY just kidding! I luuurve this new energy level. I'm up at 5:30 this morning, getting a few things ready for the week ahead!

I love coming home from work and not collapsing into a heap. I like spending the day shopping with friends and not feeling like I'm going to die. I like making exciting plans for holidays and knowing that I'll actually be able to do them. Not just start them and then get to tired, so come back to the hotel for a nap.

I do love naps though, there is something delightfully naughty about sleeping in the middle of the day. But I'm just no good at them anymore. I lie down, relax for maybe 10 minutes and then think of five more things I WANT to do, and get up again.

Oh yeah...I plan on milking this new energy for all it's worth!
