I've decided that since I am struggling SO hard right now, that maybe the underlying discouragent is the fact that I keep thinking "I have 156 more pounds to go " ***sigh*** Instead, I have decided to set mini goals like so many of you have. Right now, my first mini goal is to get to 300, and stay on the diet for at least 3 weeks straight with no mess ups....this may seem horrible to some of you, but if you knew how often I've been messing up, you'ld kick me right off this board! :no I've made it 2 weeks, then bam...on my face in the mud! So, here's to the new goal...cheers! :capital

First of all Mini goals are the best way to do it. Always make a goal something you can achieve shortly. It will keep you motivated.
As for kicking you off the board I DONT THINK SO SILLY! You are not getting out of here that easy :hug~Lauren~
support? Isn't it time to give some back?

yes yes minigoals is the way to go!!!!! Since starting, my immediate mini-goal has been to be "under 250"... well today I weighed 251.0 so I am so close!!!! The satisfaction I feel when I am 2 pounds lighter will be MUCH higher then if I concentrated soley on losing 100 pounds!
Once I am under 250, my next goal is 230.. I can't imagine how healthy and happy I'll feel when I'm close to that goal!!
Woohoo for minigoals!!

Yes, I have always thought in terms of small goals - seems too overwhelming to look at the big picture. Sometimes we have to grieve through the thinking that it is going to take us a long time to reach our final goal - but that is the reality of it. I find for myself grieving about this and then making the decision to carry on really helped me. Because you have to loose the first 10 pounds in order to loose the rest right?
I messed up too in the beginning, I still mess up. The difference is you have to get back on the "track" - don't concentrate on being harsh on yourself. Use the same energy and concentrate on what you can do now to help yourself - so much more productive!
You can do it! :icondanceSecond Time Around!

I fully believe in mini goals. I never did before but I do now.
My mini goal is to get to under 350 pounds which is the highest weight on my doctor's office scale. Presently I weigh somewhere in the area of 390 pounds which was the highest the scale I stepped on at Walmart went to.
I have not been able to find a scale higher then that.
Yep. Mini goals are the way to go. Good luck to you.

you would never ever get kicked off the board for falling off the wagon.....goodness, if that were true, I wouldn't be here.
I know your struggle, its not easy. But you can do it. Heck, you are doing it!!! :joy
The important thing is to do what you are already doing, and that is not giving up on yourself and to keep trying. You will reach your goal. And we will all be here to celebrate each mini goal with you!
Keep up the wonderful work!

What they said!!!! When you go little by little, you soon realize all those 10, 15 pounds add up to 80 pounds.
Seriously what works well is writing things down and crossing them off the list. Like ( ) Exercise

Go Maribelle!
You can do it. Those mini goals are what keeps me going when the big picture seems too big to comprehend!
