  • Vegas Vacation..help

I am not so worried about the food, I am sure I'll find something. I just don't want to spend all day in casinos. My friends are not big on toursity stuff, but I'm from NY and we always go to Atlantic City, so I am used to walking around and doing stuff outside of the casinos.

So far, they plan on going to some spa (I'm not into that) and laying by the pool (uhhh, nah) and gambling and buffets. I can do all of that here !!

I am going Thursday night to Sunday night, so I am planning on doing my own thing. The hotel is at the butt end of the strip, so I'll just go into the main part, anyway. It looks like the Seattle needle, but I can't recall the name of it right now. I FOUND THE NAME_---STRATOSPHERE-LOOKS KINDA DUMPY, BUT HOPEFULLY I'll never be there!

Anyone been there and have good ideas.I am going to check out some websites, but I thought maybe you guys had some experience. Thanks :yes

I've only been to vegas once. We went to the Hilton. I didn't care for the gambling, but the "Star Trek Experience" was really cool! I'm not a huge star trek fan or anything, but I've seen the show, and thought the Experience was simply awesome!

I know some people who love going to the dinner shows. They seem kind of silly to me, but you could look into those, they're usually found at the hotels, but you don't have to stay at a hotel to see the show. There are the big magic shows too, of course.

Once you're there you can ask the information desk at your hotel what's within walking distance. The las vegas strip is pretty compact, so things are likely to be close to one another. Don't worry though, I'm sure you'll have a great time and find lots to do!

I'm sure you'll have fun. I never wanted to go to Vegas, then my dad and his wife moved out there. We've been 2-3 times now, with our kids even.

I'd say that a few of the shows are worth seeing ("O" at the Bellagio and Lance Burton are both fun) and if you have a car, go out to Red Rock Park and hike some (there are short and long ones), go to the desert demonstration gardens and see how they use plants that are native in a drought condition, see the fountain show at the Bellagio (outdoors and free), the volcano at the Mirage, and if they're still doing it (there was talk of ending it) the (free/outdoor) Pirate show at Treasure Island. There are fantastic reefs at Mandalay Bay to see (also free) and the glass garden at Bellagio is free to walk through (beautiful).

Going to M&M world is fun (to see the 3D show and get souveniers from phones to beach towels etc...) as is the Coke Museum and you can try coke products from around the world (there are only a few diet ones).

Circus Circus also has shows under the big top that aren't too pricy as well as rides if you like the kiddy atmosphere.

The stratosphere has a roller coaster way up on top to ride (I'd be terrified) as well as a "drop" type ride I think, but nonetheless there is a fantastic view of the whole of Vegas from the observatory there.

Hmmm, what else??? I'll think on it and post again if I can recall what else we did that was fun.

I've found that the most fun thing to do in Las Vegas, is hotel hopping. It's cheap, and you'll get plenty of walking excercise in. There is some great shopping too, and the Hoover Dam, is quite fascinating too. Then of course the shows at the hotels are next to none, all depends on what you're interested in. Have fun!!!

I am going to take pictures all day. I don't really gamble more than 20 bucks or so, so I just plan on walking around. I really want to see the wax museum and Eiffel tower.

The girls I am going with have planned some mroe activities-----some strip club thing and another club and well, lots of naked when you get down to it. I'll go, but I HAVE to see the Eiffel tower since that is as close to Paris as I will ever be.

I love Vegas. I've been there a a couple of times on business and once with DH, but it has been several years. I like to walk down the strip and see all the outdoors shows. There is a volcano that goes off, a pirate ship, and lots of lights. I also lake the Excalibur hotel for shopping and shows. It has a great middle ages banquet and show that is worth the money. DH and I had a lot of fun there. Ceasars palace also was great window shopping at their indoor mall. Too expensive but fun to look at. We saw the Beach Boys there and it was great. I've never made it to the down town area but they have a great lightshow "roof" over the strip area there.

Try this link it looks like it has good information.
