Re: Have you lost over 100 pounds? Post here!
Atkins was, and still is the eureka moment for me. I finally found a lifestyle that suits me. Although full of trial and error at times, I have been succesful with this woe. My highest weight for me was 374 in 1994. I heard about atkins back then and made an attempt with very little info to go by. But managed to get 40 lbs off. In 2000 I found out I had type-2 diabetes. It wasn't untill 2004, that my doctor gave me the wake up call that I needed. He told me that if I didn't get the weight off, and get my blood chemistry healthy, that I was looking at an early death. He suggested that I try the Atkins diet. I ran with it. I bought the Atkins book and read it. After being on Atkins for forty-eight days my Type-2 diabetes went away, and no longer required medication. After ten months ,of no cheating and strict induction, I lost 100 lbs., and weighing 234. In April 2006, I was at 220. I maintaned at 220 for seven months. Then I started experimenting with low carb processed food. Thinking because it said "low carb" that I was o.k., but in reallity, it really screwed me up and I gained 49 lbs., Lesson learned! PROCESSED FOOD IS PROCESSED FOOD regardless if it says Low Carb. So starting today I plan on getting back on track with what I know works for me, "ATKINS". I'm going shopping Monday, and I'm not buying anymore of that "crap". I'm not going to set myself up for pitfalls. I'm going to take one day at a time, stay in induction untill I reach 220 and start owl phase. Thats my story, wish me luck! Oh' ya, All of you are awesome and such an inspiration. I'm so glad I found you. It's so nice to have this much support and feed back. Thanks!
