Great thread.. I, too, would love to see the story. I think it would be great for everyone to hear that it IS possible :joyF/30

This is an awesome thread, I have 200lbs to loose myself and so far have lost a little over 25lbs, I look at it like I am 1/8th of the way there already so I just need to do it 7 more times
I must say though that with so much weight to loose I sometimes feel like I am still an 'odd one' even here at ADDB because I have so much to loose and people with 200lbs to loose are not that common around here.
Any stories would truely be awesome and I would love to hear them if any of you are willing to share, Hopefully when my time comes I can come back to this thread and share my adventure.SW422/CW376/GW199

I also have over 200lbs to lose and would find it of great interest to see how others lost 200lbs or more. I am slowly but surely losing lbs and inches but its nice to read that I am not lone on how far I have to go and that it is possible to make it to goal.
Thanks for starting this thread.

Not quite 200 lbs but so far I've dropped 170 lbs.
I started April 29th, 2004 at about 435 lbs. I'm 6'6" so I was always able to carry my weight at about 330-350 lbs. but when I went up to 435 lbs it started to slow me down and I was worried about potential health problems.
I just stayed on strict Atkins from April 29th until about Jan. 1 and had dropped 135 lbs. I was walking about 3-4 miles pretty much every night.
From Jan. 1st, 2005 until April 1st,. 2005 I didn't lose a single pound but I didn't get frustrated because I hadn't cheated and most of the time during the holidays or winter I would always gain weight in the past so to stay even wasn't a bad thing. I stalled mainly because I had stopped walking because of bad weather here in the Northeast during those months and because I was eating too many of the "low carb" snacks like the ice cream bars, candy bars etc.,,
Started walking again every night on April 1st and eliminated those "low carb" cheats like the bars, ice cream etc.,,, and now I'm down to about 265. I still need to lose about 40 lbs or so to get down to my ideal weight.
My only recommendation would be to really pay close attention to the amount of carbs you are eating because as I reached a comfort level with the Atkins way of life during those months I had stayed the same weight I wasn't cheating but I was bumping myself out of "fat burning mode" by eating too many servings of "legal" carbs or by eating those "low carb" snacks I mentioned.

That is a great way of thinking about it!! I may steal that and apply it to myselfOriginally posted by ZolgorThis is an awesome thread, I have 200lbs to loose myself and so far have lost a little over 25lbs, I look at it like I am 1/8th of the way there already so I just need to do it 7 more times

I haven't quite lost it yet, but here is my recommendations for those with as much or more as I did. Commit yourself one day, one goal at a time. It soon became simply inertia for me. By that I mean, eating low carb and exercising was just who I was. Deviating from that took thought and decisions, eating the same way was easy. Just keep at it, and the weight will leave.
Just remember one last thing, it doesn't matter how quick you get to goal because goal is only a start of another phase not an ending. This is a lifetime WOE, and by the end, it won't matter what the scale says because you are already confident in your own self and control over your body.Kent - 35-M-6'4"

bowulf and joecap
I was just wondering if you two would mind posting what you eat on an average day. Also, I've seen a lot of "inductions receipts" that call for a lot of heavy whipping cream and cheese. I've been doing the induction diet for a while and Im a little afraid of eatting these things. What are your thoughts on these types of food. For example, I found a great receipt for cheeseburger quiche. The basic ingredients: ground beef, 1 cup heavy whipping cream, 8 oz chedar cheese, and four eggs.
Is this something you'd recommend for the induction phase?

How many 'servings' does that recipe make, vixie?Originally posted by vixie123Also, I've seen a lot of "inductions receipts" that call for a lot of heavy whipping cream and cheese. You can have a limited amount of cream as explained here:
One cup of cream is 8 fluid ounces so if that recipe is for 4 servings you would be only eating 2 ounces which is allowed occasionally as long as it doesnt affect your weightloss.Special Category Foods
To add variety, each day you can also eat 10 to 20 olives, half a small avocado, an ounce of sour cream or three ounces of unsweetened heavy cream, as well as two to three tablespoons of lemon juice or lime juice. But be aware that these foods occasionally slow down weight loss in some people, and may need to be avoided in the first two weeks. If you seem to be losing slowly, moderate your intake of these foods.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
