What a great time, I had so much fun. It was blistering hot and humid. There were water stations which I did use, just a sip then dump over the neck, and people were out with hoses spraying water to run through.
I finished with a time of 48:05, I passed about 20 runners on the home kick and snuck ahead of two right at the line. I finished 274th overall in a field of over 600 runners, I'm not sure exactly how many. And I finished 101st in the 18-39 open (male) division.
So I wanted to finish under 50 minutes (I did) and I wanted to finish in the top two thirds (I finished in the top half). So I'm prettty stoked right now.
Now I gotta find some more races to run.

It was bloody miserable hot & humid around here and I didn't even want to walk around it in let alone run. You so ROCK Jim! Congrats on a well planned and well deserved finish!
I almost forgot. During the race I was talking to some other runners. A guy was complaining about the heat. I said imagine how I feel hauling 289 pounds. He was amazed. He said,"and you're running 9 minute splits, that's awesome". Then I explained I was hauling 348 pounds. The some girl was like, "how much". Then we were talking about how I lost it. I said, "Atkins and this (running)". She said I should try low calorie, at which point I explained that Atkins is low calorie, you just don't count them. And how the appetite suppressant side effect of ketosis keeps your calories low. And how I eat more veggies than I ever have. And how I erased 11 years of a 15 year weight gain in one year. They were pretty impressed, wanted to know what my goal was and such. It was so cool.

Congrats Jim, that's awesome!!! How bout the Boston Marathon :yes
It has already crossed my mind. But it would be very difficult to actually qualify (which is required for Boston). I would have to qualify in another marathon with a time better than 3:18. But a corporate sponsorship is possible, that's the easiest way to get a number for Boston.
We'll see.
