  • Hooray...I'm freezing!

I know it sounds nuts but I just realized that I have been freezing all day. Not just today but for the last week or so. I keep raising the thermostat, it's now on 80 and I am shivering. My fingers and my feet are cold, my legs are cold, my nose is cold. Cold, cold cold!!!

    Guess what that means?

I'm shrinking! I remember when I first did induction I was always freezing, as I lost body fat I also lost body heat. I am so excited!

I'm either losing inches or becoming anemic. Well I definatly hope it's the first one, it is the TOM so I can't get a good reading on my scale, but I will keep you guys posted.

Gonna go make myself some decaf coffee with cream and splenda to warm me up...yummy! I love this WOE

It's funny, isn't it? You get thinner, the world becomes chillier.

You'd think with all the exercise there'd be a rise in global warming.

You know...I never realized the correlation. I have always been extremely hot blooded. In fact I hardly ever wore a coat during the winter and they can be harsh here. Anyhow, come to think of it...I have been really cold at times and wondered why because it was so unusual for me. Thanks for enlightening me! I guess I am losing all of my insulation as well! Yipppppeeee! :icondance

But I don't get it... how can you feel colder as you lose weight?

I asked the doctor (and looked up on the internet), and found out that people with more body fat tend to feel colder. The belief that our body fat keeps us warm is a myth. Try touching the parts of your body with more body fat, you will find that generally these sections feel cooler than other parts of your skin.

Surprisingly, on the other side of this coin, as you gain more muscle, you actually feel warmer because you are insulated by muscle. Muscle, when you are active, is constantly "moving" and generating heat of some sort, whereas body fat doesn't.

You will also find that anorexics, who have neither body fat nor body muscle grow fine downy hair and feel cold constantly. It is because of their lack of muscle rather than lack of body fat.
