  • I know it's early...halloween question

I know it's early and halloween is still months away but am wondering what everyone is dressing up as. I'd like to dress up as Princess Pigme Amidala, but have no idea how to make her costume. I recently got a sewing machine for christmas and hopefully I can figure out how it works in time for Halloween.

    What do you guys think:

Yeah, you are way ahead of the game. I am no where near thinking about halloween. My son on the other hand is going to be darth vader. I wish I could sew. I need some curtains for the house and I would love to be able to go pick out the fabric and just make them!!
Good luck on the dress and may the force be with you. :laughing

Did you mean Padme amidala, or is pigme her costume with a pig nose on? (seriously, I dont' know, lol). But that'd be really cool!

I once dressed up as her in the "queen amidala" costume from The Phantom Menace. I weighed around 195 pounds at the time, so it didn't look very good, but I didn't care, lol.

I've always wanted to be able to wear a really cool costume for halloween, but I've never been able to go as who I wanted. If I had the figure for it, I would love to dress up as Catwoman or something. Alas, not this year, lol!

Here's a website for making padme amidala's costumes:

There are many other sites too, if you google "making amidala costumes"

If you do it, you'll have to show us the pictures!!!

Yoly, The link she put up above for the padawans guide is truly an excellent source to look up information. Some of the costumes have links to people who have made their own and they detail how they did it and where they found the material.... You'll want to start now cuz it takes a long time to make the costumes if you're working to do it write..

With your sewing machine, don't be afraid of it, and practice straight lines with making pillows or other things. Use washable fabric pens to make lines and work on following them closely, you'll need to so your lines stay right.

On the thick stuff, swap your sewing machine needle out to a 16, otherwise I'd stick to an 11 needle.

Thanks so much for all the info. I have increadibly long curly hair. My hair looks exactly like hers when she was wearing that dress, so at least that won't be a problem.

The thing that is freaking me out is i've never made anything before, I'd like to make a dress, but i don't even know how to follow a pattern!

I am sure you can find a pattern for a princess costume and cape...I think the thing is in the fabric choice and the cape...and the hair.
