  • loose skin

    Hi,

I've been worried about what my body will look like after I loose so much weight. I found an article that claims loose skin is not unavoidable. This brought me a big sigh of relief. I thought I'd share it and ask if anyone else wants to share their experience with this issue. Has anyone lost a lot of weight and manage to get their body's toned?

    Many thanks

That is an interesting article. And I can see the logic he's using. But...I don't want to have 10% body fat! I want to be a bit softer than that. I think if I got down to 10% body fat, my family would put me in the hospital! However, maybe that's just me and my fam.

I am hopeful that I'm not drowning in skin as I lose weight though. Hopefully with exercise and patience, I can keep the saggies under control. The skin is elastic. It will shrink down. Fingers crossed.

Personally, I'd settle to simply NOT have hanging flaps of skin everywhere. It could just be my imagination, but I think that as time has gone on, the "hangie down thing" under my chin has decreased somewhat. I hope it happens to the rest of me!!

I have lost weight in the past (70 lbs) and had no trouble with loose skin. I haven't had any trouble so far this time around, either, even though I'm just beginning (10 lbs lost). But I'm also only 22...I think youth helps (no offense to anyone!) My aunt had gastric bypass and went from a 32+ to a 16 in about a year....she has had to have surgeries to remove excess skin from her arms, legs, stomach...virtually everywhere. She is in her 40s. Of course, she does not exercise, either. I don't think you need 10% body fat to get rid of excess skin, but weight training really will help!

          loose skin

          Hi,

Softnred, you look great in your after pic. Your face looks thin and tone. Let me know how the rest of your journey goes. You're a lot closer to your goal than I am.

Ah allierw26, to be 22, what a gift! Im sure you will not have problems this time around either. How fast did your aunt loose the weight? I understand thats a factor too.

          Thanks for the posts,

          Vixie

I agree with him alot, especially this,
you must change your body composition, not just lose weight.
Alot of people who have lose skin problem are people who didn't workout a whole lot, or perhaps did a little cardio and maybe did a few dumbell flys with those 2lb weights.
