    I passed!

    I got the results from my gestational diabetes test today and I passed! The cut off was 140 and my sugar level was 123!

    For those who don't know my history, I had gestational diabetes with my last two pregnancies. I knew if I didn't lose the weight I would have type 2 diabetes so I decided to lose the weight. I choose Atkins and 95 pounds later and great blood results discovered I was pregnant... which was a miracle in itself since my DH had a vasectomy FOUR years ago! (yes he was tested and the vasectomy did not work! YIKES) I automatically took myself into maintenance and upped my carbs to 80 carbs a day. I have been able to manage my weight with this pregnancy thanks to maintenance... something I haven't been able to do with any of my other pregnancies.

    I was so scared I would fail my gestational diabetes test since the odds were in my favor to have it since I had it with my other two pregnancies. I have been dreading the results. I was just so thrilled to find out I am find and would of hugged the nurse if she didn't have a Rhogam shot in her hand which she quickly placed in my right hip... OUCH!

    OK, enough babbling. Just wanted to celebrate with yall a little!

    woo hoo for you!!!!!!!!!!! So now it is onward with Atkins maintenance and a healthy you and baby girl.

        Oh I am so happy for you Dawn! I am dreading taking it.

        Tell me, did it make you feel sick at all? the drink that is? Did you eat differently before hand to prepare?

            Congratulations Dawn on doing such a good job with your Atkins and having such a healthy pregnancy.
            Not long to go now!!!

              yea dawn, that's great news. what an accomplishment! I hated that test, nearly failed it with my first. What yuckky flavor did you end up getting? Cola, orange, lemon/lime?

                Gee this is a strange universe today I got to hear my Granddaughters heartbeat and they are setting my DIL up with that same test in 4 weeks. She too was freaking over the flavor she is getting orange. Her Doc told her to fast the night before and set the appointment early. Way to go Dawn let DH kiss your Boo Boo so it will feel better.LOL

                  Congrats Dawn I am so glad for you. It must be a load off your mind getting that out of way, and knowing that all your hard work continues to show benefits even in maintenance mode.

                        Dawn...I haven't been able to check in for a while (computer is kaput and can't afford a new one!), but I am so glad to hear that your pregnancy is proceeding so healthily. The big day is getting closer when that little pink bundle of joy arrives! I can hardly wait!
