  • In need of wisdom

I have been back on Atkins WOE since 6-1-05 and I have been having amazing successes, have broken a 6-9 can a day Diet Coke addiction, have been completely cpliant witht is WOE, drinkign alomost a gallon of water every day, only I am so afraid to weigh myself. I have no idea of the weight I started at, but I estimate it at about 380-390. ANd I have no idea of where I am right now.

Every time I think about going to the doctors office to get a real # I start shaking and get freaked out. I don't know what I am so afraid of, especially since I know it is only temporary, and maybe will onlybe my weight for one day!

Did anyone else in the Century CLub experience this? Please please please help me psych myself out!!! I psend most of mytime inthe Second Time around CLub, but I need to talk to people with long roads about this issue. What is so daunting about it?

don't have that problem but you can find a health center in your area affiliated with the local hoipsital that does senior programscause they will have a platflorm wheelchair scale and call and ask if you could use their scale then just walk in and do it. nobody there will know you nor see you not discuss your atkins with you so it would almost be like doing it in private.

Noone says you have to weigh yourself. Do what you're most comfortable with. See if you feel better, if your clothes are loose, or if you just feel great. Bottom line is, if you stick with Atkins and do it right, you Will lose weight, you WILL feel better and be healthier, and eventually you'll want to go weigh yourself. My advice is don't go until you feel confident enough to face the number

Unless its really killing you to know your weight, I say don't worry about it. Judge by your clothes, and get it out of your head, its alot easier that way.

I totally understand what you are saying. When I started all I knew was that I weighed over 350lbs. That was as high as my doctors, the health club, and the weight loss club scales went. For the longest time I was terrified that this was one more failed attempt. So instead I just measured myself. Chest, bust, midriff, waist, hips, thighs and arms. Once a week I was pleased to discover at least one measurement went down. Now my weight is below 350 and slowing dropping. I'm no longer terrified. I know this works when I work it. Plus I love my measuring tape and use it way more then I do my scale.

You dont need the number, if you really dont want to know it. If you do want to know it and just dont want an audience of nurses and doctors around you, and who does, you can buy a taylor scale on ebay for about $50. Its a very accurate scale and it weighs up to 400 pounds. I hate weighing in at the docs and I always get the 90 pound nurse...ugh!
