  • yesterday i updated with my surgeon......

and he definitely feels i am a total sucess case and looseing at an
above average rate. I am down a total of 82 lbs since my first
visit to the surgeon the end of JUNE.

MY blood work came out perfect. MY cholestrol is 195 (awesome for me),
my blood sugar fasting was great and my vitamin B, potassium and iron levels
    are perfect.

RIGHT now the surgeon is very pleased with my progress since my weight loss
surgery. I now have to work on makeing workouts a habit. He has cleared me
to go back to the gym and i will begin LADIES express again in September when
the little ones are back in school.

I am eating very much like all you guys on atkins...proteins and veggies...i consume alot of water, crystal light and Sugar Free Koolaide. MY tool
helps me with my appetitie to eat less and its really good to get satsified
at normal points now. I have added berries and nuts to my eating as
snacks and when my weight slowed down it definitely sped up the loosing
for me again so i am soooooo happy.

Well feel free to ask me any questions, just thought i would update
all my great friends on how i did when i had my post op follow up. ON september 1 im officially 3 months out.

{{{Lisa}}} I am so glad you are doing well since your surgery! I'm so proud of you for making the right choices in exercise and eating right! There are so many people who think the surgery does all the work for them and that they don't have to really change their lives!

Congrats on getting a great bill of health. Sounds like you're also maintaining a good WOL. I have heard about the surgery you had, but am a bit confused about it. Do they actually block off your tubes, so that you can't eat alot? How long can you continue like this? Is it undone after? Sorry to sound so ignorant, but I am inquisitive. 82 lbs in 3 months is awesome!!! Keep us informed.

TAMARAH thanks for the kind words.

ROSHAN: yes i took a big plunge and had to have weight loss surgery to help me loose wait. ONCE i fell off atkins and regained plus my weight every attempt to get back on i kept failing. SO with my new tool im doing awesome, now.

MARY CHAN: thanks for your kind supportive words as well, YES i am happy its amazing what looseing weight does to a person.

CRUISER GAL: please no question bothers me .....and if my situation helps another thats fine and thats why i am open that i took this path to assist
my weight loss. WEIGHT loss surgery gives you a tool to help you loose and keep off the weight. ITS not a simple way out by no means. My stomach has been made smaller this is a link about my type of surgery maybe you can understand it better from it

                  Laparoscopic/Open Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass

Your surgeon uses staples to separate a small pouch at the top
of the stomach from the rest of the organ. A hole is then cut in the pouch and the lower part of the small intestines is rerouted to it. The small pouch serves as your functioning stomach, limiting the amount of food you can consume. Food bypasses the lower stomach and upper part of the small intestines and is digested in the lower part of your small intestines. Gastric bypass surgery is a restrictive-malabsorptive procedure because it not only limits the volume of food you can eat, but also leads to decreased absorptions of fat and calories, thereby limiting your daily caloric intake.

THIS is permenent. FOR me i needed this. EVEN with atkins my satisfying portions were just to much to successfully loose weight. I never get full and felt i was a bottomless pit
when it came to eating. I would eat my servings and then pick more at what my kids didnt eat and eat way to much! NOW i eat about 4 ounces a meal and have 3 additional snacks in a day. ITS wonderful to get full have have to stop and not get hungry. IN time i will be able to eat more but for now this is my serving size. I have to commit to takeing a multi vitamin everyday for the rest of my life to make sure i staywith suffiecient nutrients being i dont aborb food the same way. THE rapid weight loss will continue for me from about 6 months to about a year. THEN your body gets stubborn and holds onto fat but i should be
nearer an IDEAL weight not morbidly obesite like i was.
HOPE this helps and feel free to ask me anything about my surgery.

                  HUGS all

Great news Lisa. I have a friend who just had the lap band surgery. Her results are not a fast as yours, but she is finally losing. Her procedure is reversable. There are a few women at work who had your surgery and they look absolutely fantastic! One girl was very large and didn't take care of herself very well. Now that she has lost the weight, she is a fashion plate and cute as a button!

I think that it takes a lot of guts (no pun intended) to go through what you did. I am really glad you are doing so well!

Re: yesterday i updated with my surgeon......

YES JEANNE...the lap band is a slower loosing rate but once her fills are adjusted
just right she will be successful at a nice even steady pace.

I had researced the band...however, me and my surgeon felt with my weight BYPASS
was better option for me. THEY figured with the lap banding i would only get down
to about 200 lbs...and get stuck...with the bypass i should drop off more weight.

and yes this wasnt an easy decision to make. HOWEVER, i felt my health at 310 lbs was
not very good and i was at more danger risks walking around carrying all that extra weight.
