Re: 5 Mins of fame brabea22
Woot, thanks for the questions. I love a good interview. -snicker-
(Thanks for the questions Kent; here are your answers.)
What has been the most interesting/unexpected side effect of the WOE and the weight loss?
I would have to say that the most interesting side effect would have to be all the dimples that have appeared on me. You always imagine the fat melting away from you, but I never expected this, let me tell you!
What is your favorite low carb meal? Conversion recipe (former comfort food now made low carb)?
Really, I am a huge fan of Baked Chicken with Green Beans and a little bit of mayo/mustard mixed to dip my chicken in. Also I just LOVE mixed green salad with shrimp and a little olive oil.
Who, besides yourself, first noticed the change?
Well, my wife noticed the change well before I did. When you weigh as much as I did (575) it takes a looong time before anything shows up physically. I felt great, though, and knew I was doing well. Heather started noticing little changes about two weeks after I started though.
Enough with low carb questions, what is your favorite hobby?
Well, I have several hobbies that I absolutely love. The greatest of these would have to be writing, though. I have been writing for over ten years now. Though I have been published for poetry two times, my real love lies in fantasy. I am currently working on a novel with my brother Logan.
One of my more unusual loves comes from my love of the middle ages. I very much enjoy blacksmithing and hope to one day have the ability and the stamina to do it as much as I would like.
Dog vs. cat?
No question Dog. Mini daschunds and basset hounds are my favorite right now. Cats have a lot of personality and intellect, but it just feels like they don't have as much soul.
Sporting teams?
Not too much of a sports fan. I do enjoy watching PRIDE fighting and UFC though. I am also a professional wrestling fan (though I know it can hardly be called a sport nowadays).
Favorite childhood memory?
Well I have to go with farming with my dad. It was hard work, but I look back now with such fondness on those times. No real one memory on the farm, but more a collection of little ones.
If you were given the option of either doing anything you wanted or knowing anything you wanted, which and what would you pick?
Again no need for thought on this one. I would choose knowledge and specifically, I would want to know the cure for cancer. There are a ton of fixes for cancer out there, but the fact is that our cures are just as horrible on the body as the cancer itself. I watched my dad wither and die last year. The tumor he had grew very rapidly, but it responded to treatment. His body, however, couldn't handle the strain the chemotherapy put on him. If I had the knowledge of a real cure for cancer, maybe millions of people like my Dad would still be here.

(Thanks 2big for the question; here's an answer for you.)
What one thing about Atkins plan would you change if you were in charge (and magically the plan would still work) and why that change?
Wow only one thing? -grin- I would make water intake optional. If you want to lose on this plan, you pretty much have no choice but to drink your water, but it would be nice to have it be an optional thing. Would be cool to be able to lose just as much without soaking up water like a sponge.
Keep them coming guys.

Re: 5 Mins of fame brabea22
Yay more questions! Ok here we go.
(Thanks for the questions Stefanie, here are your answers.)
What is your favorite season and why?
I would say that winter is my favorite season at the moment. I love the colder months as sleeping becomes so nice during that time. There is nothing to me like sliding under 200 pounds of covers on a cold night. Just the weight of it on me feels so nice. I also love winter because I enjoy being able to enjoy Florida without being soaked in sweat hehe.
What is the one food that you miss the most with this WOL /OR/ what is the one food you thought you would miss, but found you really dont miss it at all?
I will answer both of these for you. The one food I thought I would totally die without is white rice. I missed it for the first few weeks, but now I really can tell you that I don't miss it in the least. Now, the food that I thought I would not miss at all but has haunted me in my dreams would have to be biscuits and gravy. I grew up on biscuits and tomato gravy and I find that it is just a constant nagging craving that I have yet to get over.
How did you find this board?
I was just getting started on Atkins. I was just about to pick up my copy of DANDR but had been reading the atkins website for about 10 days or so and following what I was reading there. I decided that I should look around for a support group as I thought that I wouldn't be able to do it without a lot of help (changing lifelong habits is quite a chore afterall). So I did a search on Yahoo! and up popped a link to this board. I joined and left a hello message on the main boards and someone directed me here to the CC. I haven't been back to the main board since lol.
(Cleo, thanks for your questions. Here you go.)
What is one of your nicknames?
Haha I will do you one better. I will give you all of them. When I was a little boy, my Daddy used to call me Snothammer (don't ask me why lol). That was my only real nickname until I was in my first year of junior high. At about that time, Meat Loaf came out with Bat out of **** 2. I fell in love with his music and bought all his albums. I loved singing and my friends always heard me singing Meat Loaf. They thought that since I was big I kinda looked like him too, so they handed me my second nickname -- Loaf. Finally, as I got older I started seeing people and for some reason every serious partner I had (including my wife) wanted to call me Muffin or Branmuffin. So there is my last one (though I really hate it).
What keeps you motivated?
Well, in the beginning fear of death got me motivated. But that faded once I started doing this as I knew that I was getting healthier everyday that I stuck to the plan. So I needed a new form of motivation.
I found that motivation right in front of my nose. Everytime I visit the Century Club, whether I post or just kinda sneak around, I am motivated by all of you. The way you get up, shake yourself off, and get back on the wagon; the way you struggle with stupid people who lecture you about your new WOE; the way you push through injury to get in your exercise; and the way you always make yourselves so readily available to help others when they are down are just a few reasons why I can honestly say that I have never met a group of people more inspiring than you all are. Your struggles and successes continue to push me onward, and at the risk of being sappy, I have to say that I love you guys for all the help you give me everyday.Bran (M) 575/470/220----------------------Restarted on: 3-24-06Weight dropped since restart: 5 lbs----------------------

How often do you get confused for a female?
In person, never. On the boards, pretty much all the time. I guess I should get a picture up so people would be able to stop guessing, eh?Bran (M) 575/470/220----------------------Restarted on: 3-24-06Weight dropped since restart: 5 lbs----------------------
