  • Hello from a newbie...

    Hello,

My name is Debbie and while I am not new to dieting, I am new to actually being successful in my efforts for more than a day. I have been on Atkins for just under a month and have gone from 286 to 260. I am very proud of myself because no one was supportive the first month. My husband said I could have his support after I lost 25 pounds because then he would think I was serious. Well, I showed him so now he has to be nice. My birthday was this weekend and I still didn't cheat. I need to lose 90 more pounds and could use all the support I can get and any induction legal recipes anyone wants to share.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome. I am trying awfully hard because for one in my life I have a good enough reason to keep me going. As the name implies, my husband and I want a baby. He refuses to try for one until I am "healthier" because he said he would rather not have a baby if it means losing me. So, the weight must go.

              Kathy,
You look amazing in your pictures. It gives me hope when I see other people are making this work. Some days are much harder than others for some reason. I think I am an emotional eater. But, maybe I can work through that.

Hi, Debbie! Way to go on your losses so far! You really have a lot to be proud of! It is so difficult to start out on our own, especially in a world filled with people who think they know better than we do about our own health and bodies.

PS... a lot of us are emotional eaters! You are in good company! If you want to make change, I highly recommend you come and join our Dr Phil Reading Club in the second Time Around Forum!

Welcome to our family, Debbie. You've come to the right place for support and motivation as you get healthy and lose weight. I relate to your 'non-support' at home. When I first started, my family wasn't supportive at all. Just remember to do this for yourself and your health. You are off to a great start and I'm sure you'll do great. There are plenty of challenges, life-issue posts that you'll relate to and great conversations with friendly inspiring people to keep you motivated here at the ADBB.

Best wishes and keep us posted on your success. You can do this, we are all here for support!!

I lost 36 pounds on this woe then got pregnant and had my baby after trying for 5 years. Still I weighed more than you do when I got pregnant. My highest weight was 334 and I was 298 when I went to my first Dr. appt after getting pregnant. I had a healthy pregnancy and a perfectly healthy baby and I bet I am atleast 10 years older than you if not 20. I was 41 when she was born!!!!!! I didn't really gain any weight while pregnant in fact at my 4 week check up after she was born I weighed 302. So it was only 4 pounds more than when I started. I have since gained more back and had trouble getting back on plan but I don't regret having her for a minute.
