    Yams

Anyone know how many carbs are in a yam.. Not a candied yam just a regular old yam you would bake and put butter on. I cant seem to find a carb count for this item.

        Bam,

I am totally not sure which rung you are on, but yams aren't allowed for a while. If I am wrong, one of you other more advanced members, correct me please.

An alternative to yams is Japanese Pumpkin which is allowed. (Well actually I don't know if its an alternative or not, its the same color and rather the same texture and you can put butter on it.
But once you get on the Starchy Veggie rung, yams and sweet potatoes are a great choice as they are very healthy for you

Pumpkin (even canned) is part of the one cup vegetable per day Acceptable Foods List. Which of course every Atkineer has laying around.
