  • Wind beneath my wings or knocking the wind out of my sails?

    Here it is...

Ok, am I insane. My husband has jumped on the bandwagon so to speak and he is doing "his" version of the diet complete with peanuts and Atkins bars. Yes, I am aware that it is NOT the plan!

Well, he has lost nine pounds in a week. You know, it me off. I want us all the be healthy and all, but for once I was doing something that made me feel better and now he is losing weight and will surpass me and leave me in the dust.

When I told him how I was feeling discouraged since I am at a stall he said, "well, you need to go running and eat less". Gggrrrrrr.

I'll explain it as briefly as possible.

Men have extremely high metabolisms, which means something in their bodies is working too hard all the time, while we're in slower motion.

This means that a man can scratch himself and lose 5 pounds. The upside is they kick the bucket faster. So men itch and croak, and we live longer .

See? There's an upside to it.

      Cleo,

Thanks for the reality check! I am just in a grumpy mood because I am stalled and can't get the scale to move for me. I am sure if I was losing, then this would not be such a trial to me. Thanks for cheering me up!

Oh honey, trust me. I know exactly how you feel. My husband flexes once, and he's ripped out. It's annoying. Men do that just to get on our nerves.

Like the whole apple thing in the Garden of Eden?

Eve was just trying to slip Adam the apple to slow down his ketosis. Fat chance! And so it goes...

Trust me, I know EXACTLY how you feel!!!!! My fiance started the same time as me, NEVER exercises, drinks diet coke, cheats occasionally, and he's lost almost the same amount as me. It is soooooo aggravating!! Oh, and he gets more compliments about his weight loss, though that doesnt bother me really, it's just kind of weird.

But mostly I'm happy he's on it with me, because it has helped me so much not to quit!!

I just wish he had to work harder for his results darnit!!

            Mary-chan,

I feel your pain sister! Makes you want to put sugar in everything thing they eat, doesn't it! However, I have to keep telling myself that I am learning a new way to eat and I will be able to keep this off forever. However, he is doing a diet and not learning a new WOE so he won't be able to maintain as well. I think there is a positive side...at least he is making some effort and it is easier to cook one meal instead of two. I just wish my stall would stop and he would have one. Thanks for the support!
