Hello Everyone,
It has been a long time since I posted here. But today is my 1 year anniversary of being on Atkins and I wanted to share my success. I wanted to post here instead of the "success" forum, because I am not at goal yet, and also, it is this forum where I found the most support.
When I started atkins 1 year ago I was suffering from all the symptoms of PCOS, including not having a period in 3 years. I weighed 275 pounds. I wore a size 24. As you can even see in my pictures I was miserable. After 2 weeks on Atkins I lost about 7 pounds and had a period. This was enough to encourage me to keep going. I also started the couch to 5k running program. It was hard to run for even 1 minute at a time.
After 1 year, I have lost 85 pounds. I am a size 14. I finished my first 5k race 3 weeks ago. Everything is different. I can't even begin to describe how much has changed. I was at the doctors office the other day and he said I was the "picture of a young healthy woman". A doctor actually said that to me.
I used to avoid physical activity at all costs. If something was on the second floor, I would find any excuse not to go up the stairs. I would actually dread going places if I knew stairs were involved. I would be breathing heavily after just 1 flight!
I always take the stairs now, not because I am trying to lose weight, but because I can. Because I am strong and healthy and I don't need an elevator!
I am training for a sprint triathalon. ME! It is really amazing. I wish I could express to you all how miraculous this seems. I have never lost a pound in my life. My weight has steadily crept upward since puberty and just kept going. I have always been heavy.
My 2 biggest tips:
1. Exercise is very important, I used to loathe it but now I love it.
2. Use this forum for support. I didn't post here much, but I was always reading and getting good tips and advice and motivation. This was so important at the beginning, but then as I learned how to do Atkins, and I started loosing weight, I found that there was a whole lot going on in the world and I needed the forum less and less. Which is what is supposed to happen I think.
I want to thank everyone here who have really helped. If it weren't for this board I COULDN"T have done it. This I know is a fact.
I am so happy now, even if I stay at this weight, my life will be so much better.
I wish I could have written this post more eloquently, it is not coming out the way I wanted it to . I just want people to know that it is possible. I read that so often when I was heavy and thougt, yeah right. But even I am loosing weight. Even ME! I was really hopeless before starting Atkins. I seriously didn't think I could do it.
Now eating healthy and exercising are second nature. The weight keeps coming off and I am never hungry, and I never really feel deprived. I am LIVING and not just letting life go by.

The fist three pictures were taken 1 year ago today. The other two were taken recently.
