  • Yippeee, 15 more days to plan for success

    I've got to say this....

I've talked to three people this week who have said they might cheat on Thanksgiving.

Of course they will. They have already given themself permission to cheat. They are announcing it to everyone to be prepared because this is what is going to happen.

MY QUESTION??? Why not put the effort into PLANNING to NOT CHEAT, SUCCEED, instead???

There are 15 more days to prepare yourself to have an ATKINS FRIENDLY MEAL for Thanksgiving. It can be done. It will be done...There are recipes for everything that you can make. Oh, you are going to someone's house for dinner? Well....take your own food, PLAN ahead. You have 15 days left to PLAN for Thanksgiving success!! Don't wait till Thursday morning and the stores are closed and your cupboards are empty and you have to say, "Oh well, I didn't have time, money, ingredients, so I had to cheat

If someone who is diabetic comes to your house, do you expect them to eat a sugar laden dessert just because you made it? If an ex-alcoholic comes to your house and you are having a drink, do you get offended if they nay the drink?? NO!! So, if your dinner host says anything...just tell them that you brought your own dessert or cauliflower potatoes or whatever so that you wouldn't be putting them out by requesting something different for your meal. Explain that it is no way a reason to offend, but that you need to do this for yourself. If they get mad - then that shows they don't really care about your health.

When everyone begins this WOE, they sound so sincere and praying that this WOE works. Well, it works, but you have to do it to see results. I'm sorry...just had to say this. Now, I will quit for the rest of the day. This is just a subject that I am passionate about.

Amen sister! I am not going to cheat on Thanksgiving.

I have put myself in charge of making the deviled eggs (splenda and dill pickle relish--they will never know the difference), a cauliflower casserole that tastes like potatoes, a salad with friendly veggies and something with pumpkin I have not yet discovered, but will.

This way, I am bringing things I can eat and my family will eat them too cause they are piggies and I can stay legal. One holiday isn't going to deter me. As for the Turkey, mom just deep fries it anyway so I am safe there. You have got to plan!

Yeah, there is NO WAY i am going to cheat on Thanksgiving. My biggest meal of that day is breakfast. Our theatre group/neighborhood has a breakfast pot luck and there are always lots of no carb stuff to chomp on.

I just make a turkey breast later on and eat it with my DBB (Dear Boosh Boosh-dog)

I hereby declare I will not CHEAT on Thanksgiving day!! Hopefully I won't overeat the legal stuff either.

I'm hoping to have a quiet, low key, thanksgiving. If a lot of people all of a sudden stop over, I am more likely to eat more because I will be stressed!

          Mary,

I am with you on the low-key thing. Whew, too many people in one house is just asking for trouble in my family!

Yeah! Debbie, Sharron and Mary. Glad you are making plans NOW so you won't be tempted to cheat on Turkey day. It is so much easier to stay with the WOE if you have planned to do it!!!

Anybody else planning for success over the holidays??

yep we don't take holidays from our way of eating because we plan delicious healthy holiday meals as part of our WOE.

Remeber too thanksgiving is about sharing your love and gratitude with your friends and family not sweet potatoe pie or gravy. No host will every be offended if you call ahead and explain about your new WOE and offer to bring a dish or two.

Way to go Dream. You are the picture of success so your wise words should be well taken by everyone. We've already had our Thanksgiving here, but I didn't cheat and I'm not planning to cheat at Christmas. Failing to plan = planning to fail. I wish you all a happy, healthy Thanksgiving

I am going to have a cheat free Thanksgiving...I have no desire for that food, but on Christmas Day I am going to have some Honey Baked Ham...they do sell the best and we get a free one every year! Now all I need to do is find a low carb ham bone soup recipe!
