  • The scale is EVIL!!! Beware newbies...

    Hello all,

Ok, I know I have whined about the scale and gone on and on about how it went up when I started exercising. Finally, I put it away until the end of the Phase I of the Onderland Challenge (thanks Rikki for the encouragement). Anyway, I did my measurements for the Challenge #22 and I have been a very good girl so I decided to measure myself again today. Listen, these stats are HARD to post, but I want those newbies out there to see that the scale is not your friend all the time. The measuring tape is seemingly more reliable so here goes:

    Stats for Deb (BabyDreamer)
    November 1, 2006
    Weight: 260
    1. Around the chest, under the arms--46 inches
    2. Fullest part of breast--52 inches
    3. Ribcage, below breast--49 inches
    4. Waist--narrowest part--53 inches
    5. Hips--widest part--53 inches
    6. Thigh-- 23 inches x2= 46
    7. Bicep-- 15 inches x2= 30

    November 9, 2006
    Weight: still 260
    1. Around the chest, under the arms--44 inches
    2. Fullest part of breast--51.5 inches
    3. Ribcage, below breast--47 inches
    4. Waist--narrowest part--52 inches
    5. Hips--widest part--54 inches--hmmm, gained on there!
    6. Thigh-- 23 inches x2= 46-- same as before
    7. Bicep-- 13.5 inches x2= 27

Check out the difference, but the scales have not moved! So, please don't stress over numbers and remember to measure instead...cause you WILL SHRINK!

You're a shrinky-dink. You're right about the scale being evil. Mine is hiding now until my 14th day of induction. I do need to start measuring.

Oh my gosh...I had forgotten all about those until you mentioned them. I loved them when I was a kid. I wonder if they still make them? Thanks for the compliment too.

Shrinky-dinks were my favorites. Dad used to buy them for me. Mom thought they were a waste of $$$.

Yep...they still make shrinky dinks. My son plays with them a lot. In fact, a year or so ago I saw a shrinky dink oven! It was similar to an easy-bake oven.

And I'm totally with you on the scale thing. I have two...and both of them are evil. These days the most use they get is when DS uses them to hold down part of his Hot Wheels racing track!! lol The measuring tape is a much better indicator of how you're doing, along with how you feel and how your clothes fit...

                    Rikki,

Thanks. I was thinking I was doing alright, but I really just wanted newbies to see that the scales don't count too much!
