  • Danger at the mall

Just wanted to warn you that the mall is a dangerous place this time of year for Low-carbers. The sights and sounds and smells of the holiday were everywhere. Everything is listed as Low-carb. There was low-carb pretzels and low-carb ice-cream and even low-carb julius. And...they all had billboards with SKINNY people stuffing their faces and having a grand ol' time eating the stuff. When I looked at the lines of people waiting to be served...most were overweight. It made me want to cry.

I'm going to make sure I eat before I go to the mall or any store. It sure smelled delicious, but we all know how fast the pounds would come back on if we get caught in that trap. There were also food-stands giving out samples of new candies and holiday breads. They weren't listed as low-carb, but I bet if I'd asked, they would have assured me they were less than the average items.

Timely advice Dream. I'm usually in such a tear trying to get everything done before the stores close that I don't usually bother to stop and eat at the mall. That's just a waste of time for me when I could be standing in a check-out line somewhere. lol Although the smell of popcorn is sometimes overwhelming.....I like your comment above. There's a deli near where I work that has a menu item called "low carb heaven". It's only about 59 carbs or something. It might be good for someone on maintenance, but it's not any kind of heaven for me.

Thanks for the warning. Whew, I am glad I decided to buy most of my gifts online this year.

          .

it's better then seeing a bunch of twiggie girls eating the stuff . Everytime I'm at the mall or at disneyland I see the skinniest girls shoving their face full of the most sugary food you could imagine and I shake my fist at my genes! Oh well though, what can you do..

You're absolutely right Becky...it's quite the landmine. What I've done in the past is treat myself to a fancy-dancy bottle of water and carry it around. When I feel like I want something, I take a few swigs of water. DS and I do like to have lunch in the mall, but the food court has several places that make legal food. My most recent meal was a philly cheesesteak (100% beef) without the bun. But then again, I never have a lot of time to think about the sweets in the mall because DS is dragging me all over the place to look at stuff.
