  • Eliminate Thanksgiving stress

Just a few words to my friends....
Make sure you take some time for yourself on Thanksgiving. Even if it is to lock yourself in the bathroom and do some breathing exercises. Try to go for at least a short walk. Stress will not do you any good. It can cause you to overeat and weaken your good judgement.

Your friends and family are not going to think any less of you if you can't or don't do as much as you usually do. I used to do the entire meal by myself. Everything was my responsibility. Not any more. I assign tasks to others. I'm not superwoman. I used to act like I was, but now I realize the importance of letting others do their share. Give them the opportunity to feel pride and satisfaction in helping with the holiday meal, cleanup and other areas of the celebration. Remember to take care of yourself and enjoy the holiday..

Bless everyone and have a SAFE and Happy Thanksgiving!!

    Amen, Becky!

And, guys, this is just a day. Yeah there's food, but there's food everyday.

Look at New Year's Eve as your goal and treat this as a day of thanks and not of one where you feel compelled to eat because of tradition or peer pressure.

    Tradition got us slavery,

and peer pressure gave us oppression.

      That's good advice Becky!

Isn't it amazing how even nowadays when you have large gatherings of friends/ family, the women still usually are the ones that feel obliged to get up and clear dishes, or set the tables and help prepare the foods, but then men keep talking?

It is really hard work putting on big dinners for everyone. I always remember my mom feeling just exhausted at the end of Christmas Day or Thanksgivings, when she prepared huge turkey dinners. It is a lot of work.

      Happy Thanksgiving to you guys!

Great advice, Becky, for all such occasions

this is for you Diva!! - I thought it echoed what you said about who usually does the work at celebrations.
