  • New to Board

    Hi all!
Well, this board sounds like the place for me.... you guys all sound so nice and encouraging!

I'm on Day 1, with 120 pounds to lose. I'm 29, I live in Ill. though I'm moving to Arizona in a month or so.
My DH and I came up with a motivation plan for something I've wanted to do for a very very very long time... I've wanted a jeep since I was about 7 years old, so we're using it for motivation!

For every 20 pounds I lose, I get parts for my jeep, building it from the ground up. We divided it into 6 phases: P1: Frame, P2: Engine and Tranny, P3: Rims & Tires, P4: new Steel Body, P5: Paint & Trim, P6: Interior and accessories.

I'm super psyched, ( and yes, the picture below is exactly what I want, a rebuilt 81-86 CJ-7, same color and all.)

So anyway, I look forward to chatting with you guys!

Welcome to ADBB and to Atkins.
make yourself at home here somebody will be by to collect your initiation fee and tell you about the tattoo you get

I hope you get allthe parts for each phase when you hit your 20 pound mini goals cause jeeps got lots of parts.

    Happy low carbing.

      Re: New to Board

Lol, yes, all the parts... we basically broke it down per section with a general guideline over what all it will include... that's also why we saved interior till last, after everything is painted, because all the gauges, seats, etc. etc. will be a good chunk... we also made it so that the most expensive part of it, ( the new steel body) is when I get a new body by hitting 200 or 199.. getting into wonderland as you guys call it.

Welcome to the !!! You have a great motivation for yourself!!

Read through the posts on this board for help and encouragement, I learned so much by coming here, this place has helped immensely!! Remember the first week is the hardest, about the third and fourth day you are going to reallly really crave sugar, don't give in!! Things get much better after the first week and eating the atkins way will become second nature!! Post here often for support, it helps!! Also, try not to think too much about having 120 pounds to lose.. one pound at a time is the best mentality to have, in my opinion!!

You'll do great, I look forward to hearing about your successes along the way and seeing a picture of you in your new Jeep!!

I also love jeeps - my dad worked at chrysler his whole life, and we are a family of jeeps!! I have a Grand Cherokee Laredo.. my father has a Wrangler (the greenish safari looking ones, forgot the name of them), my mom has a jeep liberty.. my sister had a cherokee until last year, my other sister had an old '96 wrangler.. etc.. Great cars!!

                    Re: New to Board

A family of jeeps! That's gotta rock. My mother in law won't let me borrow hers because she knows she won't get it back. But it'll be really great for us "girls" to go off-roading in the mountains of Arizona at some point....

I have plenty of start pictures, all though I got married a couple years ago, I haven't changed a single bit. I'll spare myself the horror and just look back at it later.

Welcome, welcome, welcome! What a great motivation, building your own jeep from the ground up. Where will you store all your bits as you build? In your garage? And even more fun will be when as you're going on putting the images of it being built playing one after another so it will seem to be building itself in a "flashing gif"! I've loved seeing those folks that have their avatars themselves "melting" as they loose their poundage!

Congrats on stepping out to getting healthier!

I thought about it, ( a flashing gif that shows it being built) but I started off with learning how to do a small animation with the one I'm using now... I can do flash, but doing animated gif's are a little more tedious than I like.

We'll probably build a storage shed for all the parts, and for my DH airplane parts. We're just starting out down there so honestly what we're trying to do is just find a trailer for 2 years and save up my income to purchase some land, and then move the trailer out there while we build our dream house. Being in a trailer, we won't have a way to have a garage, but I've built storage sheds many times, so I'll probably just put one up. As soon as I get the used jeep, the first thing I'm doing it gutting everything out of it and stripping it down to the bare frame anyway, so I can't just leave the parts in the car. My neighbors will hate me. Muahahahahaha.
