  • Very sick

    Hi all.
I'm on my 7th day of Atkins and today/well, now 1 hour of yesterday was very harsh. I am having extreme cramping in my abdomin that comes and goes, it hits for about 10 seconds and then stops. It occurs with movement or a position I'm sitting/laying in. If I put pressure on my stomach laying down, it triggers, and if I've been sitting awhile and start walking around, it triggers it.
I don't know if something is seriously wrong or if it's because I was eating too much meat/cheese and not enough of like salad to keep my system clean. I stuck to eating salad all day, but the pain is still there.

Has anyone experienced this? I would like to know if this was just my lack of planning for eating or if I should actually go to the doctor.

Jeepgirl - I think it's always a good idea to go to the doctor if you feel you should. You know your body, and if you think there's a serious problem, rather be safe than sorry.

As for the cramping, I had it bad during the second week of induction. It subsided after week 2 and now nothing. I don't know if this is normal or not, so can't help there. Maybe 2big can help, I know she always has the best advice. Maybe try PM her?

That sounds like an intestinal or stomach virus I had last week. It was harsh!

This time of year there are myrial illnesses. Yours sounds like one of them and isn't Atkins-related in MPO.

I hope you feel better! If you don't, I mimic the advice of Ninane and say get thee to thy practitioner!

Just a quick question, other than the occasional but nasty cramping in the stomach, did you feel fine everywhere else? no throwing up or anything?

No vomiting at all. Just annoying crampy badness that was so bad I couldn't sleep along with some diarrhea on occasion. That and I'd sometimes feel really cold. It was miserable!!! Even when I was asleep (or trying to be) my intestines were busy working. It was terrible. I almost prefer the flu to be honest. Viruses are wicked bad.

I had a similar bug right after Thanksgiving. No vomiting, just weird stomach stuff, diarrhea, a constant switch between feeling hot and cold, and a weird dizzyness. Oh, and the worst cottonmouth I've ever had!!! It went away after a few days.

I hope you're better soon, and if not, get to a doctor!!!

okay, my stuff sounds like cleochatra's, and I'm honestly feeling about 70% better than I did yesterday, so I'm going call it a stomach virus, stick my fingers in my ear and sing LALALALALALALALALA if my brain starts worrying again..

                  Re: Very sick

It's total virus. It looks like JoAnne gave it to us and now Lisa has it too! (Shame on you, girl!) I stopped getting flu shots because I so DON'T need to get poked in the arm when I know all I'm going to catch all winter long are viruses. Viruses are way worse than flu anyway. At least with flu you barf and it goes away. With a virus it's a day-long-intestinal-palooza and you're it's buttmonkey.

Maybe off, but that sounds like how I feel when I am ovulating... perhaps, if that turns out to be right timing for you, and it happens again.

I dont know why... just one month several years ago, I started to feel it... and now I know!

Nope, 1st off, way off that time for ovulating, and 2, it was one of the most excrutiating pain I've felt in my life aside from having my esophogas ripped when they took out my gall bladder... and ironically, around the same area... way too far up.. unless my ovaries migrated north for the winter!!!
