Any Quitters Who came back and succeeded out there? I seem to NEVER finish what I start when it comes to loosing weight. Well, I was wondering if there was anyone like me here who has figured out how not to quit? I really feel hopeless, like I was meant to be like this (fat and unhealthy). If any of you remember me I have over 200 pounds to lose and have had an extremely rough year. Please don't get me wrong I am not looking for pity I am just trying to find some hope for myself. I am staring at this mountain I NEED to climb and all I want to do is turn around and go home!!!

Re: Quiters Who came back and suceeded?
Hey! The STAC forum is filled with succesful people who've stopped and re-started! But know you're so totally not alone in this. Part of the getting to 'there' is the getting. It's all the journey! Welcome back!
ETA: I was off-plan for 3 months this summer and had to relose about 50 pounds, if it makes you feel any better. I did... and then some! You will, too.

Re: Quiters Who came back and suceeded?
Hey welcome back. I remember you. How are you and your wife doing? I remember why you disappeared too. I am sorry for your loss.
It does seem like a big mountain, but if you never take that step you will never get over it either. YA know? It's been said that it takes time to break a habit, time to change your behavior and the only way to start is to begin.
Make a list of WHY you want/need to loose and start with that. Work on it bit by bit and you CAN do it!
Also go read over to the STAC (second time around) club, there are a few stickys over there that deal with starting over.
Best wishes for beginning your healthier lifestyle!

Re: Quiters Who came back and suceeded?
I was on Atkins 5 years ago and lost 40 pounds. I had a very hard time starting again. I must have tried 20 times. I could never get through the third day. This time I just told myself to white knuckle it and get through that day. I did it and have been fine since. It did take about 3 months to get rid of the urges for sugar. By 5 months into the plan I actually craved veggies. That was a first for me. I am down 60 pounds now and plan to lose 40 more. Good luck and I wish you success! Get on here and read whenever you feel like you can't do this. It really does help.Michele SW250/CW 226/GW150 F, 38, 5'6"
I was down to 175 in 2007 and I will get back there again!

if you haven't seen Brook's site of her weight loss check out the link in her siggy or read her journal. she quit the first time cause of family medical emergency and then did her fantastic awesome drop of almost 100 pounds the next time and has just returned to goal weight again after slacking off for several months

Re: Quiters Who came back and suceeded?
Hi Rhino,
I remember you. Welcome back. May I suggest that you dust of your copy of DANDR and turn to page 150, Blood Sugar Symptom Test. Maybe reading through all the negative stuff that you can get out of you life by doing Atkins will help you to make a choice.
I have struggled/cheated/stumbled a lot over the last year. I keep coming back to this WOE because it is the only thing that works for me AND because I feel so good when I am eating this way. If I am honest about a true goal weight I also have over two hundred pounds to lose but that is way too scary to even think about so I set my goal at 180 pounds and I only focus on a 20 pound mini goal.
Hiding inside my castle of fat is really tempting sometimes. It is easy, I know and understand that way of living and eating. But that castle is a also cold, drafty, and weighs a ton. I'm sick of carrying it around.
Repeat after me:
I want to be smaller
I want to be healthier
I want to sleep better
I want to be stronger
I want to fit into chairs
I want to be {fill in the blank}
Atkins is my way out of my castle.Michelle,

No, I'm not Brook. She's a gorgeous blonde. Look around and you will find her. Her pictures and story are a great motivator.
I didn't realize that my link to my pictures wasn't working. I will have to find a new way to post them.
How did you do today?Michele SW250/CW 226/GW150 F, 38, 5'6"

Re: Quiters Who came back and suceeded?
Quitting....well I've haven't exactly quit, but I haven't stuck with it completely either. I will do great for about 2 weeks and then fall away for a week or 3, then back on. Since 1/14/05, I've lost about 30 pounds and kept it off. I just keep re-starting because it makes me feel better than my cheat days.
If you find the solution to staying on for months at a time, let me know, okay? : )
