  • Weight loss slowing down?

Well I intellectually knew it would happen, but kept hoping it wouldn't..

Ever since getting under 200, my weight loss has really slowed. I know I was totally slacking with the exercise for a little while, but now that I am back in full steam I noticed no matter how hard I try, it just isn't coming off as quickly as it used to. It's not a plateau as I am losing inches and the scale is moving down veeeerry sllloooooooowllly... Not whining or anything (hopefully not anyway lol), just trying to collect some information..

Has this happened to everyone or is there something I can do to kick it back up a notch or two? If it did happen to you, about what weight did it slow down, or after how many pounds lost? Was there anything that you did to speed it back up?

    All replies are appreciated

For me, counting calories has always made a difference. That and boosting exercise.

You how have more lean body tissue then you did before and every pound of fat is a much bigger % changew in the amount of fat you need to lose. when you started 1 pound was less the 1% for you now it is almost 3% change so it should take longer to see a one pound change. With the new lean body tissue you have added through your exercise and Atkins protein eating you should have even less fat to loss then the 34 pounds your siggy says you do which would make each pound an even bigger % change.

I struggled and struggled to get to that elousive number on the height weight chart. Even my doctor said I was fine but the scale number didn't seem right. then I figured my body fat % and was like HOLY CATFISH I'm 14.9% I'm underweight.

do figure your fat mass and see where you are.

just remmeber if the inches are coming off fat mass is coming of and that is what you want. AIn't nobody going to see the same weight number walking in the door. They will see the healthier smaller you! Keep shrinking

Mary-Chan, We started around the same time, had about the same to lose, and have lost about the same amount. I have really been losing slowly too. I stayed at 200 forever, now I have been at 190 forever. I'm assuming that our bodies are catching up to our weight loss. I want my skin to shrink, so I guess it is ok to lose slow if that skin shrinks up. It is frustrating, but we just need to stick with it. I always lose about 15 pounds in the spring doing yard work and playing with the kids. Hopefully, that will happen this year too. The difference is that we won't be putting on weight during the holidays and through the winter. We will get there.

I found that after breaking the 200 barrier it has been very difficult to lose weight. I need to count calories in order to lose weight now and I haven't been. I guess I'll get on that in the new year.

Same has happened to me I am losing on average 2-4 pounds per month but, so long as it's a loss I am really happy. It will all add up to the big picture Mary Just gotta keep going you're doing fab and glad to see you back to exercising.

              Re: Weight loss slowing down?

Thanks for the replies everyone . I kind of knew that it was bound to slow down, but of course when it happens you wonder if you're doing something wrong or not.

Momtofour - it makes me feel a lot better knowing you're experiencing the same thing. I was hoping someone else would say the same thing happened to them so I would know I wasn't alone. I guess I shouldn't be so hard on myself! Just miss that momentum, darnit!! Thanks for the post

I've been counting calories when I can, and trying to cut out certain foods to see if that helps. Any other suggestions are still welcome!!

                Re: Weight loss slowing down?

I started to slow down quite a bit since I hit Onederland. The scale is moving very slowly, but the inches are dropping alot faster now. I work out almost every day, and that helps, but I think I have to start watching my caloric intake now just to make sure I'm in line, and maybe even drop back a bit of the carbs as well! I think this is all part of the course though, so I am not too concerned, but a little frustrated as we all seem to be. Hang tight though!
