  • About to restart on Monday

Well, on Monday I'm getting back on track. I will be inducting with brand new starter photos, measurements, and Fitday account. I'll be restrting exercise too as soon as I have clearance to do so with my c-section. I'll also recommit to at least 1 gallon of water per day to drink. Tuesdays will become my day in which I cook all day long to have things prepped so I can't fail.

I have 3 things I need to ask about because my mind isn't working right now.

1: I know we're allowed several olives per day...does that mean pimentos are ok or no? If they are, how many would be allowed?
2: I know that flax isn't on the induction list so theoretically it isn't allowed, but I've seen people suggest it when people are constipated even inductees...so is flax ok or not?
3: Soy flour...ok or not? I'm thinking not, but can't remeber which phase. Anyone able to refresh me? It's been almost a year and with the new baby I don't have time to reread the book right now so I need any help I can get.

Anyway, if anyone can remind me of this info, I'd sure appreciate it. I am looking very forward to being back on the boat with everyone!

Good to hear about you restarting. Here goes:
    1. Pimentos are not allowed -- not on the allowed foods list. If you buy your olives with them, you will have to remove them first. One TBS is relatively low carb though (from Atkins Carb Counter):
    1 tbs Pimentos, canned 0.6 (total carbs) 0.2 (fiber) 0.4 (net) 0.0 0.1 3.0 (Calories)
    2. Flax is allowed for regularity. You can have up to 1 TBS per day to keep yourself regular. Here's the relevent quote from DANDR:
"How can you get the benefits of fiber without the carbs contained in these foods? The answer is supplementation. I recommend that you take one tablespoon of psyllium husks daily. Be sure to select a sugar-free product. You can also take one tablespoon of coarse wheat bran or flaxseed meal."
So it isn't something you can eat liberally during Induction. You have to wait til Rung 4 before you can start increasing it.
    3. Soy cheese (tofu) is allowed on Induction, but Soy Flour is not. Soy Flour (made from crushed roasted soy beans) should probably be left for the legumes rung.

        Glad to have you back

I hope the little fellow is doing well too.

well Kent, actually they are allowed. Pimentos Ingredients: Whole Red Pimientos, Water, Salt, Citric Acid. This is one of those things where you look to see if the ingredients in your food. red peppers are allowed as peppers in the acceptable veggies lists your olives you are fine.

fllax is allowed and mentioned by name in rule 12 of chapter 11 rules of induction for treating constipation and since just about everybody gets constipated once you have used it to clear your constipation woes you get to keep it for the rest of your Atkins as preventative means as Kent quoted you above and then when you get to OWL rung 3 you can add more.

Soy flour isn't allowed but soy protein isolate is allowed as a protein source
