  • Hi Again! and Bridesmaid Dress Question

I restarted Atkins on Jan. 1 after being off for almost a year (gained all the weight back plus 10). I tried a couple of other diets in the interim but I have finally realized that Atkins is the thing for me and I am really totally committed! I'm excited to see some people I remember from the boards and so thrilled at their continued progress.

So I have this very random question. My best friend is getting married at the end of May and I'm her Maid of Honor. Tomorrow we're going to order her dress and look at bridesmaids dresses and I'm supposed to get measured. Well...I don't want to get measured because I know I won't be this weight in May. Any suggestions on how to handle the situation where I have to order a dress way in advance and I'm not sure what size I'll be in May? This is such a dumb thing to be worried about but I'm really afraid of being embarassed tomorrow.

Thanks for still being here everyone! And still being so supportive!

Did you keep a record of what you lost last time and measurements? You could look back and estimate what you will be. They can take a certain amount of a dress in. Ask how many sizes that they would be able to adjust. Do keep in mind that we don't always lose at the same rate that we did in the past.

I was down to 175 in 2007 and I will get back there again!

Well i was on nutri system when i got married looseing.
THEY would not let me order my dress smaller then i was at the time
      of order placement.
THEY just did an awesome job takeing it in for me.
EVEN asked why i bought the dress so BIG!
      go figure.

THEY can take in your dress all you need so order
what ever your size is...and let them work miracles
on your dress when it comes in. MAKE sure fittings
      are included in the price.

      GOOD LUCK

Friendly2 is right... they won't order the size any smaller then your measurements... but there are some awesome tailors that can take your dress in and make it to a perfect fit.... but like she said... make sure you get a good price for it!!!

Thanks!! That's very good information that I didn't know. Now hopefully they'll have dresses in my current size!

Lisa's advice is awesome...just remember that when you choose a dress, pick one that can be taken in easily. I'm assuming that there are some that would be more difficult.......

            Happy losing!!

Thank you all so much for your advice! The people at the store treated me really well and they had dresses up to my size! I ordered one that would fit me now and I'll have it taken in! I can't wait until I don't have to worry about these things!

Just imagine how awesome it's gonna feel when you put that dress on later! And you are going to feel so great when the tailor is like "Wow, why did you buy a dress that big... we have to take __ inches off of each side!" hehehehe... that would make me feel great!
