  • Yoga... ouch!

Okay, so today I went out and did some shopping. I came across the Yoga DVD and thought "Hmmmm... yoga seems like a fun relaxing exercise." So I bought it. So an hour ago I decided to do it... let me just say... whoever said yoga is easy and relaxing can bite my ! My lower belly hurts so bad... I am walking a lot taller... but believe me... I can feel the burn... EVERYWHERE! But I guess no pain no gain!

      Yeah.....

myself I wouldn't even consider doing Yoga until I have lost a considerable amount of weight. I've always had a big belly and was never able to do thos ethings skinny people do.

Good on you for trying something new!

I find yoga really really tough, too. It's kind of weird, actually. My sister LOVES yoga and hates pilates, and I love pilates and dislike yoga. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Some positions I can't do... but most of it just has to do with endurance... like the Sun Salutation movements are easy... until you get into a steady repitition of it... then you start to feel really sore... it just shows me how many muscles I never move!

Well, at least you TRIED it! Yoga looks easy (not saying it is), except for the sitting Indian-style. There's no way I could cross my fat legs like that anymore. Tee-hee.

The more I do it... the easier it becomes... the first time I tried the camel position I could barely hold it... then just tonight I was trying and I actually could do it comfortably for a whole 10 minutes! I'm soooo happy!!!

I also started doing 50 crunches in the morning and then some Tae-Bo... I got the exercise down... but I'm not weighing myself until sunday! I'm holding strong to stay away from that blasted scale... and then in a month I will be redoing my measurements!

You can say that again... I've been exercising so much that my whole body is sore... but I just keep thinking I have appr. 140 lbs to lose and I want some nice muscle there for the skin to grab onto while I'm losing.

                        Re: Yoga... ouch!

Back in the mid 90's, when I was a size 18, I took Hatha Yoga classes for about a year. I LOVED it, except that some positions were difficult to get into because of my stomach. I dropped out of classes as I gained weight but have continued some of the poses at home. When I get back to an 18 this spring (AND IT WILL HAPPEN!!) I just may take classes again...
