  • How busy is your weekend?

Are you sitting on the couch? laying in bed? or are you up and out and busy! One of my biggest challenges is getting going on weekends. It is sooooo easy to just lay around and make like a slug! I cannot count the weekends I have spent doing absolutely nothing.

So I enrolled both of my grand-daughters in gymnastics. The live 45 minutes away, but my SIL works weekends close to our home. So he drops the girls off in the morning and picks them up late at night. I get them for the whole day and my DD gets to study in peace and quiet. For the next 10 weeks I have to get up early and be busy all day Saturday. No time to veg-out on the couch with two busy girls around.

Good for me and good for them.

How are you spending your Saturday???

Re: How busy is your weekend?

Since my SO works most Saturdays, my routine is weekend shopping (no shopping on Sunday over here), usually including a long walk on a farmers market or through town, the some cleaning and washing, and heading abck to work on the computer (freelance author). When the weather isn't as cold and nasty as today I get out the mountainbike, pack the camera and may go on a fotography excursion, or check flea markets vor stuff to sell on ebay or for myself. Oh and I treat myself to a hot bubble bath.

Sunday I'll go for a gallery tour with my honey or have long walk somewhere - the zoo, the Japanese Garden, flea markets (again), the harbor... take a trip to the sea... or just drop dead on the sofa and listen to an audiobook or the radio.

At the weekend there is a special fetaure show on one of my favorite radio stations, called 'long night'- the topics vary and it is from midnight to about 3 a.m. With guests, featurettes, music, lots of information on the chosen topic - which may vary from Elvis' birthday to divorce. Actually, I listened to a long night on divorce two years ago when I was amidst my divorce...

One of my goals for 2006 is to listen to more quality radio broadcasts.

Was too busy working all week to clean anything in the house, so today I woke up at 7 am, made myself a cheese omelet, and then got to work cleaning everything I could! Was nice to finally get around to packing away the xmas decorations and getting rid of the pine needles that were all over the carpet! I also worked a little on making a DVD of some homemovies for my family. Exercised for 15 minutes using the step, and took the dog for a long walk. Nice relaxing day

It's shopping for me too - no decent food shops near where I work so I do it all Saturday.

Last Saturday was the first since I bought my self a pedometer. I did a 4km walk before breakfast. Then I went shopping. I could not believe my eyes when I got home - I had walked over 4 kms, actually close to 5, just doing the shopping! My total for the day was almost 17,000 steps, and for me, 4,000 = 3 kms (approx 1.86 miles)

Re: How busy is your weekend?

Good Question.....well often times I am sooo worn out from the week that I sleep in, watch movies, exercise and putter. But this year I am making more of an effort to make plans and get out of the house.

This weekend, I went to a Friend's birthday party Friday night, went and hung out with me dear aunt (who is 88 and still going strong) on Sat., and visited some other family on Sun. and jog/walked 6 miles.

It was a more active weekend than some and I intend to make them all more active (burns more fat : )

Re: How busy is your weekend?

On Saturday I made a deal with myself....if I worked hard in the morning and got all my housework and a good chunk of the wash done, then in the afternoon (when DS goes to my mom's for his weekly sleepover) I can do something fun for myself. I got all my stuff done....but I couldn't think of what to do!!! lol Finally I went to Barnes and Noble for awhile, then went home and chatted with Christopher for a long time...
