What shall I do with my beautiful large sized clothes?

    What shall I do with my beautiful large sized clothes?

    I have lots and lots of beautiful Talbot's Suits and dresses in larger sizes (from 16 up to 20 and maybe some 22). It would probably cost too much to send them to someone (plus they would wrinkle) but if anyone lives in Connecticut here and would like to come and take any of them, you are welcome to do so.

    I would rather give them to someone I know, who I know will "pay it forward".

    If that doesn't work out, does anyone have good suggestions? Ebay seems like too much work, and so does finding the right kind of consignment shop. (Anyone ever have luck consigning clothes?)

    Thanks for any help, and PM me if you live nearby and would like to come shopping at my house!

      Consignment shops.

        Aw...you guys are too sweet. It's true that I don't really check in very often anymore. But it's really nice to know you guys are here!

          Nice to hear from you again. Good to see you are a goalie still.

          Check and see if your YWCA has a Nearly New shop. ours does and you have the option to donate the clothes great for your Taxes, or take a percent of the sales

            Hey Sharon, there's a Nearly New Consignment Shop in my inlaws neighborhood (old lyme) that would gladly take them. If I continue to stay at size 16 I might take an outfit or two off you. Seems like this has been my size for a year now. You still have my e-mail? If not, PM me and maybe we can arrange a time to meet up?

              In Cleveland we have a "From a SHelter to Work" program that outfits formerly homeless women in professional clothing after training them in office skills. Maybe there is a similar program in your area to donate them to.

                Everyone had some good ideas. (esp to get the tax break). E-bay can be a lot of work, esp for clothes. Donate them or do you have any friends at that size that would like them?

                A friend of mine always has super cute clothes/shoes and when she buys something new she replaces it with something in her closet and passes it on to her other friends. Its fun for her friends to get something "new" for their closets : )

                  Some of my old clothes went to a local domestic violence shelter, and the rest my sister came and took (she literally came over, went into my closet and started taking stuff!!) the rest for the clothing closet over at her mental health resource center. There's good karma to be had in giving your old clothes to a worthy cause!!
