I posted this in the journal forum yesterday:
I don't post in this forum very often. I usually stay in the Century Club Forum, but I just thought today about how powerful it is to stand up and fight for your body. Here is an entry from my fitday journal today:
I have spent a great deal of time...many days, many years...being distressed about the state of my body and my general health. I've tried--without success--to lose the weight. However, my many past failures did not impede me from continuing to get up and try again. I have been on Atkins now for almost three weeks. Though I've not yet lost much weight, and though I cannot see the changes in my body, yet, I can tell you how much better I feel emotionally just KNOWING that I'm at least fighting back against this weight.
Knowing that right now, at this moment, I am no longer contributing to my body's ill-state. It is so EMPOWERING to know that you are diong what you need to do to be healthy. I have a long way to go...roughly 150lbs., but mentally it feels like I'm a lot closer. I have had some good days and some bad days, but I can tell you that once you get through the rough moments you realize that it is *SO* worth it! The feeling is like the difference of being broke and having stacks of bills or being broke and having your bills paid. I'm still overweight, but at least I know I am paying my debts right now.
I pray to God that he will continue to grant me the desire and willpower to see my weightloss through. I have never lived HEALTHIER than I am on Atkins. Fresh vegetables daily, regular exercise, NO JUNK FOOD!!! Those who criticize this way of eating (WOE) simply don't understand it. It's a lifestyle adjustment, but after only a couple of weeks, things have already begun to fall into place.
There is a piece of mind in taking action, and I am so grateful to this bulletin board and all of my friends on it.
