  • Thrift Shop delight

My boss got the Dr. Atkin's New Diet Cookbook at Walmart the other day for $15. She brought it in to work and we were reading & discussing the recipes. I decided I was going to buy one too. But, on my way to Walmart...I stopped by the thrift store looking for another aquarium. I had to go by the book section to get to the back of the store. There....low and behold was copy of Dr. Atkin's New Diet Cookbook and it was priced $1

Of course I bought it. It looks new. I also found two more copies of the DANDR for .25 each. I bought them too. I've always bought DANDRs and kept them for people who tell me they want to do ATKINS. I give them a copy to read. Some end up buying them from me, others give them back and say 'no thanks' and some dissappear. But, I feel that as long as they are out there for .25 then I will keep a few on hand so I will be ready to help anyone in need.

Thats all. Just wanted to share my news. Never know what treasures you'll find in the thrift store!! SMILE

That is so awesome that you buy copies of DANDR for others. What a nice thing to do!

I couldn't do without the Thrift shops at his stage. I've given them more than 1/2 my clothes, and got nice replacements to see me through the period of change from fat and horrible to slim and (I hope) gorgeous! (I'm thinking confident!)

My name is JoAnne, and I'm a thrift store junkie!! lol Every week or two I wander into my favorites to see if there's anything interesting. It only makes sense for people like us, who are actively losing weight and don't want to invest a lot of money in a size we don't plan to spend much time in. I also look for and buy DANDR's to give away...

                  Re: Thrift Shop delight

LOLOL, I've not made a profit - thats for sure. I buy them from .25 to $1.00. I sell them for the same price I buy them for. However, I've had 5 disappear from people who wanted to borrow and read...then they dissappear. And I've had some people read them and then give them back. My husband laughs at me and says the ones who dissappeared are taking them to the thrift shop and I'm buying them over and over. We have a good laugh about it. But, I feel if I can pass out as many as possible, then it has to change some people's lives.
