  • Weekend Mess Up

Ok, I'm back from the teens retreat in which I was not able to totally keep my carbs down. I was at the mercy of the cooks who were preparing very high carb, rib sticking, heavy meals Pancakes, Cassaroles, Mac and Cheese, Oatmeal) for the kids because of the cold and the snow. I did try to eat as much salad as I could when it was offered to fill me up, but with the cold weather (11 degrees) I needed something else too.

But...after trying to eat limitedly, I spent time outdoors during free time with the teens and got involved in what was nearly a 2 hr. snowball fight. LORDY, I ache all over today from throwing snowballs, and romping in the foot deep snow. So I hope the exercize I got helped pass those deadly carbs out of my body.

Today, I'm back on my correct eating. I won't weight in till Wed of this week so I won't know how much damage I did to myself.

    peace and blessings

To be honest, I don't think you did all that much damage. You have gotten right back on plan, right?? You're exercising and drinking all your water and eating to plan, right?? Then I think you'll be okay. You probably knocked yourself out of induction, but that will be fixed in a few days. I think the BIG stumbling block (at least, it was for me) is once you fall/get off plan, it's very hard to get back ON plan and make it stick. Do all the right things, and you'll be okay.

Now is a good time to think back and reflect on what you could do next time something like this happens. Yes, you ate the best you could with the choices you were given, and that is definitely a GOOD thing. But next time (or in a similar situation) could you bring some/all of your food? Would the kitchen folks be willing to let you in long enough to prepare your own food??

Yes, next time (July) I am going prepared with my own food. and I am going to contact the staff as soon as possible. I have another hurdle to conquer because I will be at a Convention in April and will have to try to eat Atkins and bring some of my own food.

      Thanks for the encouragement

good for you planning already so the next time will not be a problem.

Since you don't have any wild craving issues you should be fine and in control. weight might not be what it could be you are back from what could have been the end of your WOE so that is a very big plus.

Conventions are easy. Tell then you are diabetic (gets rid of the sugar) and yeast or gluten intolerant (gets rid of the wheat). Ask for salads and vegetables with your meat/chicken/whatever and tell them no sauces because you cannot monitor what is in them. Sure, they'll think you are a fusspot, but you'll get legal food. And what the heck, you PAY to go to conventions so you should be able to get what you, the paying customer, wants.

                Well said, Odille
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
