Re: Anyone having trouble staying off the scales..
I'm horrible at jumping on the scale. Then I get disappointed if I don't see progress.

Re: Anyone having trouble staying off the scales..
When I first began Atkins I was jumping on the scale all the time and I could not beleive that daily I was going down a pound or so. But then when I began to go down 3 up 1, and so on I was going nuts.
This time, which I say is my last time because I'm going all the way, this time I am only weighing myself once a week. Its driving me crazy, but I don't want to get myself down when I did not see weight loss after a while or when the scale goes up one or two because that's when I gave up
and in.
I am trying to harness my "analness" to eating the correct way and getting exercize rather than hopping on my scale.
Today, and on all Wednesdays, I'm going to weigh in. This morning my weight was 286.0
I began at 290.0 so I've lost 4 lbs. It probably would have been more except for my high carb weekend at the retreat. But I'm still 4 lbs down.

I am only on day 5 and well ive jumped on 3 times lol. I will be okay when I stop losing so quick, I am so curious lol. I contimplated stopping but I think it is what I need right now anyways, when I start staying still then I will stop watching so much. I plan not to quit, no carbs is easier then I thought...Ive just relised how much I used to eat. whoa...

Re: Anyone having trouble staying off the scales..
That has always been a problem of mine. I'm almost to 1 month into this WOE and the scale is still my best friend! I know that eventually I will start slowing down... but I'm enjoying it while I can... you should join our thursday weigh-ins! It is so amazing to see everyone's results for the week as well as share your own!

Re: Anyone having trouble staying off the scales..
I hop on the scale each and every morning. There's nothing wrong with being a scale junkie, AS LONG as one understands that weight is only one indicator of your progress on this WOE. How you feel, along with your shrinking size, are (in my opinion) more important than what the scale says. In addition, there are normal fluctuations in weight due to a variety of reasons. Here's a related post entitled "weight loss is not linear" that's very important to remember: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=5090

Re: Anyone having trouble staying off the scales..
When I did Atkins in the past ... I was always on the scale. This time, however, I have restated induction in Boot Camp and am weighing myself just one time a week. Also, I took my measurements (which I had never done before) for those weeks when the scale is not in my favor : )

That's me.Originally posted by californiacaseyI tend to be a scale junkie when I'm doing Atkins properly...when I'm not I tend to ignore it! Yikes, that's not too good....hmmmm
Scale avoidance is a bad thing for me. LOL
I don't feel punished by it when it goes up - but when I start ignoring it is when I get in trouble.

Re: Anyone having trouble staying off the scales..
I always have scale troubles (staying away) but it's what keeps me honest with myself...I know when I've not had enough water, nor exercised enough and the scale tells me to keep at it.

Re: Anyone having trouble staying off the scales..
I don't think the scale is a bad thing for me. It was not weighing myself that got me to 250 pounds. It keeps me on track.Michele SW250/CW 226/GW150 F, 38, 5'6"
I was down to 175 in 2007 and I will get back there again!
