  • I need all your Help!

    Well once again I find myself in this forum. I decided that I wouldn't post in the induction forum and just post here since I am so fat! I am 5'9 and 296 or so. I really hate where I am at right now, and really need some support. I recently got fired from a great job, and just haven't stopped eating since then. I always say to myself tomorrow will be different, but it never is. I always end up eating what I am not supposed to. I've had a little of success with this woe and just hope I can actually take the step to lose the weight I have lived with all my life. I am tired of being fat. I am tired of being the girl that has such a pretty face, too bad I am so fat. I want to feel better about myself, and to be healthy for my son. He is the only thing that keeps me going right now, and I want to be around him for a long time, but if I keep doing this to my body. I am a little depressed, and really dont have any support from family or even my friends. I want to join boot camp, and I need so much support.

    Hey, we are kinda' similar in stats. I'm 5'8" and 305 pounds. I've lost 40 pounds over the past year but I've recently recommited myself to weight loss.

    I know how hard it is not to emotionally eat. There is a fourm for "emotional eating" and how to cope, they have wonderful help there. Like you I've also had a series of upsetting things happen. My grandmother died, we've had some drama with a family member, I was all set to go back to school and it ended up bombing because a lack of credit and funds, and I also found out that we almost got screwed over by a student loan that I never took out.. then today my daughter took her diaper off and smeared poop all over her carpet, bedding, toys, etc so badly that we have to take the carpet out and replace the flooring... it's really a challenge in times like this to focus on eating well, but I find that by focusing on my health and weight loss makes me redirect my energy to something more positive! It's like a switch you have to make, and once you make it you feel much better. Remember you aren't alone. We do have a long way to go, but we can do it. You can do this... as for having friends that support you, you have friends here that will support you every chance they can... just ask. Cheer up, and congrats on making such a great choice.

      Hey! I am large boned also. LOL But for reals, I know what I will never be a 7or8 but a 11-12 I can be, so I really want to get there. I know everyone has there own sets of problems and that is why we have forums like these to help eachother. As I mentioned before, I've had some success on Atkins but I had alot of support from some induction buddies I found here, but for a reason or another we stopped corresponding with eachother. If its any consolation, my soon peed on my scale today , so I guess we do have alot in common. I just need to learn how to make healthier food choices, and yes when I get depressed I tend to go for chocolate. Sometimes I am just plain out lazy, and order pizza (today) I am addicted to chocolate and soda, and could basicly live without everything else (chips, bread) but those two are going to be the hardest.

        LOL, perhaps we can be buddies then? I'm on induction (started fresh Monday)

        My biggest "craving" is Goldfish. Isn't that odd? It became my comfort food. I could eat loads of them. Goldfish and Ice Cream. But now 4 days into it my cravings for sugar have gone. I haven't even had a diet rite or anything... I want water. I hope this lasts.

          LOL, When I first read goldfish I thought the actual fish, lol, I dont know what I was thinking. LOL but hey the snack goldfish are very good! It would be great to have you as an induction buddy. I also find that planning my meals ahead is really helpful in keeping me on track. I just love the fizzle in soda. I am coming down with a cold right now, so I hope I feel better by tomorrow which will officially be my first day. So what do you do for exercise? You'll see how we are going to do this!!!!

              Don't be depressed. I am in a similar situation also. I started induction today. 5'3.5" and 305 pounds. I just turned down a great job offer because I am so ashamed of how fat I am. They seemed to look past it but I couldn't get past the fact that I would probably be the fatest person in the deparment. So I know how you feel. Please, please let's all keep in contact and support one another. Although I did great today, I also stayed by the computer on this site for most of it to keep my mind off food.

              We can do this and we'll be so much better off because of it.

                welcome to ADBB and Atkins from a former 300+ pounder.

                the easiest way to get yourself motivated to make today the better day you want it to be is to make a list of all the reasons you want to lose weight and do Atkins. then make a list of why you don't I know goldfish will be on one of your list and choclate and soda on another list. when you have it all down on paper give a value to each one of the items from one to 100 and you can use a number more then once. total them up and then you know if you want to do Atkins or not.

                now that you are past that part it gets easier. If you have a pic of you smaller get it and one of ryou at your biggest and leep then close to you then every time you think about eating something legal or not ask yourself whic version of you that decision will help occur the smaller healtheir or the bigger unhealthy one? if you need fear run from the heaiver version of yourself all the way to goal as I did if you need happy thoughts them look forward to becoming that smaller person.

                Now comes the hard part get rid of everything in your house you can't have on induction. if you got kids make a seperate area for their foods and think of it as stealing from them if you eat or even drool on any of their foods.
                Now inform every one you are about to low carb your life and ask them to asssit you in doing that should you stray from that plan. give them the wallet sized copy of the acceptable foods you will find in the induction stickies so they can see what you can and can;'t have.

                Plan your rewards. little ones for little 5 pound loses. I paided mysef $5 a pounds and set the 100 pounds gone as the spending day. others do things like a new lip gloss or some small make up or hair item. whatever makes you happy that isn't food. then plan your rewards for the bigger goals like every 20 pounds and make a list and put it where you can see it all day whereever you will be working out eating or fixing foods. then you can know what you are earning by not stealing the kids cookies.

                Next don't use your size as an excuse not to move. oh I'm to fat to workout I'll do it after I lose 50 pounds! Nope you start today. you can do anything you want as long as you elevate your heart rate and do 20 mins worth walk fast go shopping and walk all the aisle or stores with an empty cart before you buy anything. whatever you can do take the kids out to walk or dance or whatever you want to do and do it. Get out your calander or your day planner whatever you use and block out a time for you to exerice. then just start. if you want to try something in one of the challenges post Hi I'm new and I want to join this. All ADBB challenges are open to all memebers. As you get in better shape increase your time frequency and duration. when I started 20 min at 2 MPH was a Rocky on top of the steps momnet for me. Now if the treadmill goes that slow I walk right off the front. you will be amazed once you start and get 2 weeks in you will be hooked and you will see the iomprovements in yourself.

                Okay now I hope all 3 of you visited your doctor first for the bllod work and check up Dr Atkins tells us to get before we start. if you didn't now would be a good time to discuss losing weight and exercise with them. If they give you flack about doing Atkins hand them your book and ask them what in the induction chapter 111 food lists is unhealthy? seeing those 3 cups of veggies you will be eating will be an eye opener for many nay saying docs.

                Drink the water and know that very few folk started out loving the veggies and the water drinking. i was a 24+ can a day Diet Coke drinker and almost quit Atkins on day 3 the headache from giving up the caffeine cold turkwy was so bad. but I made it and I'm so glad now almost 4 yrs later i did.

                If you need support start a chat journal and the gang will visit you daily. if you are about to cheat or jump off the pro9gram come post and let everybody talk you through whatever it is and keep you on tract. We had a mod here who used to say for us superheavyweights it is a very slippery slope we are trying to climb to control our eating and shed fat pounds.

                  Welcome ladies. You all have made such a good start posting here and talking about what you need/want. Now plan, plan, plan! Make sure you ALWAYS have food available for yourself and your new meal plans.

                  Keep snacks for yourself handy to stave off a craving. I currently like pepperoni crisps and cheese (you "nuke" your pepperoni in the microwave until they're crispy and you can use them like a cracker, just put them on a papertowel).

                  Keep a constant glass of water by your side, so you can sip as needed. I chose a pretty 20 ounce glass and just keep refilling it and I made sure everyone knows that one's MINE! LOL!!

                      All you guys rock!!! I wish you guys were all here so I could hug you!

                      Since I've been off and on the wagon so many times, its really not too bad right for being my first day. I've drank 80 oz of water so far and feel sick but because I've been combating a cold that I wont let hit me too hard. I love that Airborne stuff. Anyways I do have a question, what about Chili peppers? I am mexican and love to spice up my plates with chili, salsa, whatever, to make it hot, is that allowed?
