  • Scales?

What scale do you use? I just bought a new scale today. I did have a Weight Watchers scale and it SUCKED royally. I ended up getting this one. I went ahead and got. I tested the scale in several places. The weights ranged about 10 pounds depending on where you put it. I went ahead and put it in the bathroom which was right in the middle of the 10 pound range. So I figure that was the best place. I would have loved to keep it in the place that read 296.4 but I'd rather be accurate so I went for the 303.6 spot.

What scale do you use? How often do you weigh in?

I weigh every 28 days (to beat the power of bloat) and I use a Taylor Black Lithium, records up to 350 lb in .1 lb increments, guaranteed accurate for 30 years, and it looks sexy: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...sin=B000BU94GU

      Re: Scales?

ooooh I have scale envy! I bought a homemedic scale from Bed Bath and Beyond...it was expensive, but worked well. Unfortunately, it kicked the bucket in about 6 months from my dogs stepping all over it. Our bathrooms are so small, especially with 3 dogs, and I guess after getting stomped on so many times, it got confused and didn't weigh correctly anymore. We bought a cheapy digital Weight Watchers scale at Wal-mart, and it has worked pretty well. By then we didn't need one over 300 lbs (hubby was 330 at his highest). I moved it to a safe place, too, so it doesn't get trampled on by doggy feet!

I was going to buy a weight watchers one that kept track of your weight loss from walmart, but I thought it would get too complicated so I bought one that is supposed to be the ones used by physicians for about 25 bucks. I was going to buy a realllly cheapy one for like 6 bucks, but I thought, naaa, you get what you pay for!

Yeah... I hear ya... we had a $25 Target Gift Card, so we went to Target one night and seesawed for about 20 minutes between a few scales and finally bought ours.

I think I love it. And I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Allie, that dog picture avatar still gives me the giggles. The scale is evil! Evil I tell you! I weigh every week, and it still drives me nutty. I'm afraid to buy a better one, on the off chance it will say I weigh MORE!

                Re: Scales?

I like our scale and it is very accurate for me. My husband just told me yesterday that it wasn't accurate for him because he was too close to the 300 pound limit. It would give him different numbers. Now that he has lost 15 pounds he is getting accurate readings.

                  Re: Scales?

Well, my first scale was underweighing me by 16kg (I had a horrible feeling about it). When it told me I has GAINED 4 kg in a week (this at week I knew it had TURNED on me! I bought another one and discovered the awful truth. However, I do plan to buy a nice fat analysing one on ebay (link http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA%3AIT&rd=1), because it has the remote you can hold in your hand. It is hard to see the weight on my analog one, but it is OK for the moment. I have it between the bed and the window sitting on a piece of board as I found it waqs not accurate on either the carpet, or the bathroom floor because ours slopes to the drainhole. I have checked it against the chemist's one and the gym's Tanita scale and it is OK to within 1/2 kg.

I try to keep to once a week on Friday morning but usually have a peek about Tuesday!

I have this one http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...sin=B00064NKCU. I love it. You program male/female, height, and goal weight and it saves the info for you. It tells you how much you lost since last time, and how many more until goal. It also does the body fat thingy...but I don't rely on that too much...it's just a nice rough figure. It can program ALL that info, for up to 4 people. It's really nice, and affordable.

                      Re: Scales?

I hate my scale. I have to weigh on it like 6 times just to get the same weight twice. And we're not talking 1/2 lb difference, sometimes it's 2-3 pounds.

GRRR! I should go buy another one, but I just hate to do that.
