    Re: gosh

I suffered a knee injury a few weeks ago from excessive dancing. I know it can be really painful--yes, you're right, exercise over time will help to strengthen your knee, but the higher the weight of an individual, the more potential for injury... with high-impact exercise the risk only increases. If you take good care of your knee, and allow yourself adequate recovery time, this will be only a minor setback. Listen to your body, drink plenty of water, be gentle with your knee, and wait until it feels completely better. I know it sucks to be temporarily out of commission, but repeated knee injuries can become serious if not properly babied.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

talk with your doc about it to figure out what yu did to it then get your stride analyized at a good running shoe store. making smal changes in your stride orlanding pattern will go a long way toward keeping it healthy. see if you have the correct shoe to while there.

I know ALOT about knee issues. I need 2 new ones and I am hanging on to not getting them as long as I can.

Try swimming and elyptical (at an even level) and see if it helps. Also, see a doc to see what is really going on in there.

And...Take it easy while you mend.

            Re: gosh

I fell in Dec and hurt my Knee, was feeling better and i starting doing the treadmill, I was supposed to go for therapy for it, my ligamanents are loose. But all they would do there is put heat, do some electrical thing, and range of motion, and it would cost me 15 dollars a shot (co payment) I really, really cant afford that, for when they are are doing so little. I thought walking would help and they said it would. But I think I was over doing it, I was up to 2 miles a hour a 3 on incline and 20 minutes (half mile) in am and same in pm. I just dont wantto go off the diet. I am trying so hard to do it this time and I keep hititng road blocks, Thanks for listening

              Re: gosh

If it continues to hurt, please go see a doctor. I have bad knees and know the pain and discomfort it causes. Also, agree with the swimming when you can't walk or do exercises.

Remember....look at this as a way to prove you are committed. When obstacles jump in your way...it gives you the opportunity to grow stronger and overcome them. Don't let them interfer with your new WOE/WOL.

Not that someone doesn't want you to get healthy, but someone wants you to show them how much you want it to happen.

                Re: gosh

A good elasticated brace and the RICE will help but it does sound as if you have been overdoing it a bit. I have a bad ankle with old ligament damage, because I did what you have done, neglected to finish the course of physiotherapy. I regret it every day of my life. There is always pain down the outside of my ankle and foot and sometimes it just locks up and I cannot do anything. Some massage may help. If it is not too long since your injury, have all the physio your can afford.

Teh swimming or some water aerobcs would be good alternatives until it is healed. Good luck with it.

I had a terrible sprain and a fractured ankle in September. I couldn't exercise per say, but I still lost weight while it healed. I did exercise by using my arms to scoot everywhere around the house for a few days, until I got a cast.
