  • (Question) Malic Acid

My parents have sent me some low carb iced teas. One of the first ingredients in them is Malic Acid. I've looked this up online and it is described as "a tart sweetener." Which is kind of romantic actually. I want to be a tart sweetener.

    Anyhoo, my question is:

Is Malic Acid related to Malitol? Will drinking a couple glasses of this make me sick? Because spending the weekend in the loo is somehow less romantic that being a tart sweetener.

    Hello Sweet Tart

    Malitol
Maltitol is a natural sugar-substitute based on a Malt-extract, which allows chocolate to keep a sweet taste without containing sugar. Maltitol has become a popular sugar substitute in many chocolate couvertures, especially Belgian chocolate sugar-free products.

Malic acid occurs naturally in a wide variety of unripe fruit, including apples, cherries, and tomatoes, and is used as a flavoring and in the aging of wine.

        Thanks for the answers!

Soooo....this won't make me sick then?? *hopes*

And of course this isn't an everyday thing. I have to drink my water first.
